- The two sides will meet on Saturday, May 9, at the ASK Showground in Kakamega.
- The match is set to kick off at 3pm EAT.
KCB Rugby head coach Andrew Amonde and the team captain Bob Muhati are buzzing to beat Kabras Sugar RFC when the two collide in the Kenya Cup 25/26 finals on Saturday, May 9 to be staged at ASK Showground in Kakamega.
The Bankers are going all out in this title showdown to ensure they stop the Sugar Millers, who have been flawless across the recent four consecutive campaigns, claiming the trophy each time.
KCB last reached the Kenya Cup final in 2024, where they slumped 29-5 to the same opponents, adding extra fuel as they hunt for redemption in the Kenya Premier Rugby League, which they last won back in 2021.

KCB ready to end Kabras Sugar’s perfect run in the Kenya Cup
Speaking ahead of the clash, head coach Amonde exuded confidence in his side’s preparation and mindset. He believes they are well drilled to make their chances count on Saturday.
“We have grown a lot as a team this season. The boys understand what’s at stake, and we are ready to deliver a complete performance. Kabras are a strong side, but we’ve shown we can hang with them, and now it’s about executing our game plan on the day,” said Amonde.

KCB’s chances will be seriously boosted by the return of their sevens stars who have been in camp, with Floyd Wabwire, George Ooro, Festus Shiasi, Samuel Asati, and Vincent Onyala all back in the mix, adding depth, pace, and savvy to the squad.
KCB captain Bob Muhati believes that this season they have really grafted to reach this point and they will be throwing everything into the 80 minutes at ASK to ensure they tick all their boxes and carry the title back to Nairobi.
“This is the moment we have worked hard for all season. The lads are locked in, the energy in camp is right, and we know what Kabras brings. But we also know what we’re capable of. It’s about discipline, execution, and showing up for each other for the full 80. We want that trophy, and we are ready to fight for it,” noted Muhati.
The last time these two met, KCB dominated most of the first half in the regular season, having taken a 10-0 lead before Kabras managed to stage a comeback at the KCB Sports Club in a soaked venue to force a 10-10 draw where the match was suspended before the second half kickoff.
So each side will be aiming to finish the job and assert their supremacy.
The Bankers’ expected starting XV features a formidable lineup, including Fidel Maina, Nick Okullo, Emmanuel Silungi, Wilhite Mususi, John Aswani, Sheldon Kahi, George Ooro, Samuel Asati, Brian Wahinya, Festus Shiasi, Bob Muhati, Richel Wangila, Mike Wekesa, and Isaac Njoroge.
The match is expected to kick off at 3pm EAT.
