SportPesa League title hopefuls Gor Mahia have received another boost to their squad with the return of the club’s top scorer this season, Felix Oluoch, who has been sidelined for a lengthy period.

Olouch has been out of action for nearly 14 weeks since the club sidelined him indefinitely after he picked up a knee injury that required specialist attention, consultation, and careful management.

According to the club’s team doctor, Brian Odongo, Felix was by then dealing with patellar tendinopathy, a lingering issue. Odongo confirmed the diagnosis and laid out the recovery plan.

However, further assessment revealed ligament damage, and the decision was made for Oluoch to undergo surgery to correct the Grade 2 ACL tear. Since then, he hasn’t touched a ball for Gor.

Gor Mahia top scorer Felix Oluoch has return to training session

The Harambee Stars player was expected to miss the remainder of the season, but Gor Mahia announced on their social media on Thursday, May 7, that the forward is back training under close medical supervision, according to Team Doctor Brian Odongo.

“There is positive progress for Felix as he continues his rehab journey following knee surgery,” Team Doctor Odongo said.

“He has resumed light training sessions under close medical watch as he gradually works toward full fitness and a return to competitive action,” Odongo noted.

The striker’s rehabilitation program is now built around key recovery pillars, including safe loading and strength building, before he can be fully reintegrated into team activities.

“His recovery has been encouraging, with the focus staying on safe loading, strength building, and controlled reintegration into team drills,” the team doctor added.

Olouch remains the club’s top scorer with seven goals despite being out for a while, and his return could prove crucial in this final stretch for the record champions, who are chasing to reclaim the title.

There are only four matches remaining, and Gor need at least two wins to secure the crown as they currently lead the table with 64 points -nine clear of AFC Leopards in second on 55.

K’Ogalo has scored just one goal in their last five matches (against AFC Leopards), something they will be aiming to fix in this four-game final sprint, even though they have a superior goal difference.

While no timeline has been given for Oluoch’s return to competitive matches, medical staff remain optimistic about his progress.

He is the second key player to return to training after the club received a timely boost in their match against Kakamega Homeboyz, where they won 1-0 with the return of Sylvester Owino.
