KCB vs APS Bomet

The stage is all set as the SportPesa League round 30 midweek fixtures take centre stage on Wednesday afternoon across the country.

The rearranged fixtures will be played in midweek due to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup quarterfinals played over the weekend.

Gor Mahia stretched their lead at the top of the SportPesa League standings over the weekend with a slim 1-0 victory against Kakamega Homeboyz. The record league winners are now on 64 points after 30 games, nine more than eternal rivals AFC Leopards.

In third place are defending champions Kenya Police with 48 points, needing a home win against Murang’a to maintain their top three status.

With four games scheduled to kick off on Wednesday across the nation, we look at each of the games and offer our predicted outcomes of the same.

Bandari vs Posta Rangers – Wednesday, 2PM – Kwale Stadium

The dockers are coming off a morale-boosting 5-2 victory against lowly Mfalme, booking their place in the FKF Cup semis at the weekend. They are looking to bounce back in the league after three consecutive games without a win.

Bandari are in 10th place with 39 points, seven more than their opponents Posta who are in 13th on the log.

Posta are also desperate for a win after four games without victory, and will be confident they can battle for one here having not lost to Bandari since 2023. The last four games between these sides have resulted in a draw.

The visitors have only won of their last seven away games and will have an uphill task against a Bandari side who have just conceded twice in their last six home games.

Prediction – Under 2.5 goals

Police vs Murang’a – Wednesday, 2PM – Police Sacco Stadium

Champions Police were also 1-0 winners against Shabana over the weekend to book a place in the FKF Cup semis. This victory stretched their unbeaten streak to seven games.

Police must win if they are to remain in third place and will feel they can against a struggling Murang’a side, who have lost their last five games ahead of this encounter.

After a shock Cup exit to Mfalme, Murang’a lost back-to-back games against Nairobi United and Kariobangi Sharks. Their dismal run of form leaves them in 11th place with 38 points.

Gor Mahia face Murang'a Seal

Murang’a beat Police 1-0 in the reverse fixture last December, courtesy of a Joe Waithira goal. The midfielder still leads the SL Golden Boot race with an impressive 15 goals this term.

Prediction – Police to win

APS Bomet vs KCB – Wednesday, 3PM – Green Stadium

Newcomers Bomet are looking to stretch their unbeaten run to seven games when they host KCB on Wednesday. The hosts have turned their season around, winning three straight games to move further from the relegation zone.

Bomet are now in 14th place with 31 points, with another win here potentially continuing their steady rise up the table.

They face a seventh-place KCB side who have 41 points after 29 matches. The bankers have not won either of their last two league games but are fresh off a 1-0 victory against Nairobi United in the FKF Cup quarters.

KCB were 4-2 winners in the only other match ever played between these two teams last December. However, the home team’s recent winning record cannot be overlooked ahead of this clash.

Prediction – Bomet to win or draw (1X)

Nairobi United vs Tusker – Wednesday, 4PM – Nyayo Stadium

Nai boys will not defend their maiden Cup title they won last season after being knocked out by Homeboyz over the weekend. The defeat halted an impressive seven-game unbeaten streak.

Nairobi United are unbeaten in six SportPesa League matches and come into the game in sixth place with 45 points. Depending on other results, a win here could see them jump into the top three.

They face a Tusker side who have only won one league match from their last five. A barren draw against Sofapaka was followed by a shock 1-0 loss to Mara Sugar, leaves the brewers in eighth with 41 points.

Nairobi United vs Gor Mahia

Tusker also booked their place in the FKF Cup semis with a 2-1 win against Ulinzi Stars. Head coach Julien Mette is hoping his side can carry on that winning mentality into this tricky league encounter.

Nairobi United are tipped as favorites to complete the league double over their opponents after a 1-0 victory last December.

Prediction – Nairobi United to win or draw (1X)
