We can surely expect more fireworks as Bayern Munich host PSG in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal on Wednesday night.

The first leg was an explosive affair that produced nine goals as PSG edged Vincent Kompany’s side 5-4, a Champions League semifinal record. Braces from Kvicha Kvaratshkeilia and Ousmane Dembele were enough to gift the Parisians the slim win.

Despite already being crowned Bundesliga champions, Bayern had to come from behind to settle for a frustrating 3-3 draw against Heidenheim over the weekend.

It was a similar outing for PSG as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Lorient at home on Saturday. Both sides rested key players in preparation for this potentially cracking fixture.

The record Ligue 1 winners are seeking to become the first French side to reach three Champions League finals. They boast an impressive 13 wins from their last 16 knockout games in their bid to defend the title they won last year in Munich.

Will Bayern turn things around to win at home or can PSG repeat last week’s success to book a place in this season’s final? Here is our predicted outcome of the match.

Bayern vs PSG team news

Top scorer Harry Kane and Michael Olise came off the bench in the draw against Heidenheim and will both start here, with Nicholas Jackson dropping to the bench.

Lennart Karl is back from injury and could get a place on the bench for the hosts. Luis Diaz and Jamal Musiala will retain their spots in the starting XI.

The rest of the team will remain unchanged from the side that started in the defeat in Paris last week.

For the visitors, a similar XI is expected to be named by Luis Enrique as well. The front three of Dembele, Kvaratshkeilia and Desire Doue will be responsible for PSG’s potent attacking threat.

They are poised to adopt a 4-3-3 formation here with the trio of Vitinha, Ruben Neves and Fabian Ruiz engineering proceedings from midfield.

Bayer vs PSG head-to-head and current form

Both teams come into the game on the back of identical runs of form that seen them win three, draw one and lose another in their last five matches in all competitions.

The hosts are unbeaten in their last nine home games, while PSG have won all of their last six games on the road. This alone gives this the potential to be another goal-filled clash.

Bayern have been superior to their opponents in recent history, winning three of the last five matches played against PSG. Last week’s defeat was the first they have suffered at the hands of their opponents since 2021.
