Osborne Monday has been appointed as the first assistant coach for SportPesa League side Shabana FC, less than a week after parting ways with Murang’a SEAL.
Monday once served as an analyst for Shabana, and he returns to bolster the squad alongside Andrew Ongwae, who had been holding the fort as interim coach since Peter Okidi exited around March this year.
“We are delighted to welcome back Osborne Monday as our 1st Assistant Coach. Following his previous experience with the team and his deep understanding of our team philosophy, we believe he is the right fit for this role as we fast, track the rebuilding process of our technical bench. We look forward to his contribution as we continue to strengthen and move the club forward,” Shabana announced on Friday, April 17, 2026.

Osborne Monday returns to Shabana FC as assistant coach
The former Harambee Stars player has landed this new gig just after being shown the door by MSEAL, having failed to steer the club through the FKF Cup quarterfinals, where they were eliminated by Division One minnows Mfamle FC, who thumped them 5-1 in the Round of 16.
As a result, Monday parted ways with the club and now returns to familiar ground, having been part of Shabana during the 2024/25 season.
This time, however, he rejoins not as an analyst but as assistant coach, tasked with helping steer the team back on course after slipping from title contention to battling for a strong finish. The FKF Cup also remains a key target.
He arrives with an impressive record, having guided Murang’a SEAL through a ten-match unbeaten run.
During his playing days, he also earned a call-up to the national team. Besides featuring for Tusker FC, he has also turned out for Mathare United.
Monday joins Shabana at a time when they sit fifth on the table with 43 points, trailing leaders Gor Mahia by 14 points.
The team has struggled for consistency, managing just one win in their last five SportPesa League matches.
Speaking after his appointment, Monday, who holds a CAF B license, stated that his mission is to make sure the club climbs back to second or third place.
“It feels great to be back here, and I’m happy to work on the project the team has ahead. As a coach, you’ve got to stay positive in what you do, and I’m expecting good things from this. My goal is to get them out of that position and at least into second or third,” he stated.
Osborne Monday’s first assignment could be on Saturday, April 18, when Shabana will look to return to winning ways as they host Kakamega Homeboyz at Gusii Stadium from 2 PM in the SportPesa League.
