Kabras Sugar are through to the 2026 Enterprise Cup finals after flooring Menengai Oilers 29-20 in the semifinals staged at the ASK Showground Kakamega on Saturday April 11, setting up an East Africa finals showdown against Stanbic Black Pirates of Uganda who edged out Nondies in the other semifinal.
Also known as the Rai Derby, the two sides met in a rematch of last season’s Enterprise Cup final, where Kabras managed to snatch a fifth successive title, and they kept their title defense alive by denying Oilers another piece of silverware for the second season running.
It was the Oilers who drew first blood, capitalizing on a Kabras infringement to seize an early edge through a well-converted penalty that gave them a 3-0 lead.

However, Kabras fought back to take the lead after a sleek move on the left wing with Edward Mwaura crossing over for a well-crafted try which Jone Kubu successfully converted to hand the sugarmen a 7-3 advantage.
Kabras continued to impose their authority as Roy Maruti added a second try after he pulled off a clever offload on the right side, going just near the posts to extend the cushion. Eric Cantona added the extras for a 14-3 lead.
The Oilers responded with a converted try of their own through Clarkson Keagan, and Abutwalib Wesonga added the extra points, narrowing the deficit and keeping the contest within reach at 14-10.
Just before the break, Kabras struck again via a well-executed maul try, Kubu adding the conversion that granted them a commanding 21-10 lead heading into halftime.

The second half began with Kabras preserving their momentum, registering an early unconverted try to push their advantage to 26-10.
Oilers answered with a penalty, bringing the score to 26-13, but Kubu was once again spot on, calmly slotting a penalty to nudge Kabras ahead 29-13.
Despite a late surge from the Oilers, which saw them cross the whitewash for a final try, it wasn’t enough to overturn Kabras’ lead.
At the final whistle, Kabras Sugar emerged victorious with a 29-20 win, sealing their spot in the Enterprise Cup final.
Now, since 2019, Kabras have carved their way into the Enterprise Cup finals, and they will be aiming to defend the title for the sixth consecutive season while also preserving their unbeaten run.
Kabras to face Uganda’s Stanbic Black Pirates Enterprise Cup 2026 Final
In the other semifinal, Ugandan club Black Pirates managed to topple Nondies 20-17 at the Kings Park arena in Kampala to set up an East African final on May 30.
The Pirates made it through the semifinals after eliminating Kenyan side and former tournament favorites KCB RFC in the quarterfinals. They needed to maintain that form, and they managed to complete the job.
They were the first to grab the lead through William Nkore via a penalty shot that sailed through, giving them a 3-0 advantage.
Then Nondies managed to level things up with a penalty conversion of their own through Kelvin Sheunda, and they later took a 10-3 lead after a brilliant try that was successfully converted.

But just before halftime, the hosts managed to draw level again with Jeremiah Okello’s try, which was converted, as both sides went into the break locked at 10-10.
The Ugandan champions came out in the second half with plenty of intent and managed to slot two unconverted tries through Alex Aturinda and Conrad Wanyama, putting them ahead, while Nondies’ last converted try wasn’t enough to hand them the win, setting up an all-East Africa final.
This is the first time the Enterprise Cup has seen East African sides face each other in more than two decades, and the Black Pirates will be eager to clinch the title as they aim to become the first Ugandan side since 1999 to compete for this trophy.
They will also be looking to reclaim this silverware, with only one Ugandan team – the now-defunct Kampala RFC – having ever laid hands on this historic prize.
They did so four times, claiming it in 1956 and achieving a three-peat from 1968 to 1970.
