AFC Leopards head coach Fred Ambani has been named the SportPesa League Coach of the Month for March following an impressive run of results that saw Ingwe strengthen their push for the league title.
The award recognizes Ambani’s tactical discipline and consistency on the touchline, which guided AFC Leopards through a demanding run of fixtures and kept them firmly in the title race.
Ambani edged out stiff competition from Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor, Tusker FC tactician Julien Mette, and Nairobi United head coach Nicholas Muyoti to claim the monthly accolade.

The recognition comes after a productive month in which AFC Leopards won four out of five matches, translating to an 80 percent success rate, while scoring nine goals, conceding five, and keeping three clean sheets.
Ingwe began March in emphatic fashion with a commanding 5-1 demolition of Shabana FC at Nyayo Stadium, a performance that underlined their attacking intent and fluidity in the final third.
The result sent a strong message to their title rivals as AFC Leopards showcased clinical finishing and solid midfield control throughout the contest.
However, the month was not without setbacks, as they suffered a shock 4-1 defeat to Mathare United in their second match. The loss briefly disrupted their momentum, exposing defensive lapses and gaps in transition.
Ambani responded swiftly by reorganizing his squad and tightening the team’s structure, ensuring they bounced back strongly in the subsequent fixtures.

AFC Leopards recovered with a narrow but important 1-0 victory over Nairobi United, a result that highlighted their defensive solidity and game management.
They followed it up with another hard-fought 1-0 win against Tusker FC, showing resilience and tactical discipline in a tightly contested encounter. Ingwe wrapped up the month with yet another 1-0 victory against Kariobangi Sharks, demonstrating their ability to grind out results and maintain focus in high-pressure situations.
The strong run of results has seen AFC Leopards climb to second place on the SportPesa League table, closing the gap on league leaders and arch-rivals Gor Mahia to just two points, setting up an intense title chase in the remaining fixtures of the season.
Ambani becomes the third coach to win the SportPesa League Coach of the Month award this season after Charles Akonnor and former Shabana head coach Peter Okidi, further highlighting the competitive nature of the league’s technical bench.
For his achievement, Ambani walks away with a customized trophy and a cash prize of KSh 75,000 courtesy of league sponsors SportPesa, a reward for steering AFC Leopards through a strong and disciplined March campaign.
