Immediate former Shabana head coach Peter Okidi has been crowned the SportPesa League Coach of the Month for February following an impressive run of results that saw him guide the Gusii-based side to a perfect record during the month.
Okidi edged out strong competition from Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya, Kakamega Homeboyz tactician Patrick Odhiambo, and Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor to claim the prestigious award.
Okidi’s recognition comes after a remarkable February campaign in which he led Shabana to four consecutive victories, maintaining a 100 percent win record.

During that period, the team scored five goals and conceded none, keeping four clean sheets in a disciplined and well-organized defensive display. The impressive run pushed Shabana to 40 points in the SportPesa League standings at the time, strengthening their position in the race for a strong league finish.
Shabana began the month with a narrow but important 1-0 victory over Bandari, a side coached by their former assistant coach Bernard Mwalala.

The team then followed it up with a convincing 2-0 win against Posta Rangers, showing improved attacking fluidity and defensive solidity. Okidi’s charges continued their fine form with another hard-fought 1-0 victory over Tusker FC, one of the league’s traditional heavyweights.
The highlight of the month came in their final match against Mathare United at Nyayo National Stadium. In a tightly contested encounter, Shabana secured a dramatic 1-0 win courtesy of captain George Onyango Dizzo, who headed home Bronson Nsubuga’s corner deep into stoppage time to seal maximum points and cap off a perfect February for the team.
This award marks the second time Peter Okidi has been named SportPesa League Coach of the Month this season, having previously won it in November after guiding Shabana through another impressive unbeaten run that included crucial away victories against Kenya Police FC and Ulinzi Stars.

His ability to organize the team and deliver consistent results made him one of the standout coaches in the league this campaign.
Interestingly, Okidi becomes the first coach this season to win the award while no longer at the club he coached during the winning period.
His departure from Shabana came after a difficult run of results, including a heavy 5-1 defeat to AFC Leopards at Nyayo National Stadium and a 2-1 comeback loss to Kariobangi Sharks at Gusii Stadium, which ultimately led to his dismissal.
Despite his exit, the February accolade serves as recognition of the strong foundation he built at Shabana and the impressive performances he delivered during his tenure.
For his achievement, Peter Okidi walks away with a cash prize of KSh 75,000 and a personalized trophy, courtesy of league sponsor SportPesa, in recognition of his outstanding contribution during the month of February.
