Tusker FC head coach Julien Mette has lauded midfielder Crispine Erambo following his recent call-up to the Harambee Stars, noting the player has the potential to compete at the highest levels of global football.
Speaking to SportPesa News, Mette reflected on Erambo’s journey back to the national squad, noting that the midfielder has overcome significant physical hurdles to reclaim his spot among the country’s elite.
“He’s a very nice guy, a very good baller. I think he was a little overweight due to injury but he has had good performance on the whole game after his recovery.
The player has pushed himself and done extra work aside from team training and it’s clearly evident why he has been called back,” Mette noted.

Erambo’s injury troubles began in August 2025 during the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.
The midfielder sustained a persistent ankle injury while representing the Harambee Stars in that competition.
Although he attempted to start the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season with Tusker FC, featuring in the opening two matches against Posta Rangers and KCB, the injury relapsed and was aggravated, forcing him into a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
In November, he made his competitive return as a 78th-minute substitute in a narrow 1-0 loss to Gor Mahia at Kasarani Stadium.
The former Mombasa Elite midfielder gradually regained full fitness in the second half of the season under Mette, eventually accumulating the minutes necessary to earn his recall for the FIFA Series in Rwanda.

Despite the initial fitness concerns, Mette remains a firm believer in Erambo’s international potential.
“Technically to me, in terms of technique and in terms of understanding of the game, he is a very good player. He deserves to play for his national team and abroad, and why not in Europe?” Mette added.
The midfielder himself echoed these sentiments in a past interview with the Tusker FC media team, admitting that the call-up has injected new belief into his season after a grueling recovery process.
“It is a massive motivation for me and a reward for the hard work I have been putting in behind the scenes. It gives me a huge boost to keep working and to get back to my best form.
It has been a really long and tough journey to recover and get minutes, and this has really helped,” Erambo stated.
Erambo, who joined the Brewers from Mombasa Elite, has become a vital cog in Mette’s midfield since the Frenchman took over at the club.
His inclusion in the national squad is seen as a reward for his improved work rate and influential performance in the SportPesa League.
