Kariobangi Sharks teenage sensation Humphrey Omondi Aroko has been crowned the SportPesa League Player of the Month for February after an outstanding run of performances that played a key role in lifting his side away from the relegation zone.
The highly rated young midfielder edged out strong competition from Gor Mahia’s Enock Morrison, Murang’a SEAL captain Joseph Irungu Waithira, and Shabana goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng’ to claim the coveted individual accolade.
The Highway Secondary School alumnus enjoyed a remarkable month, delivering consistent and decisive performances in midfield as Kariobangi Sharks battled for crucial points.
Aroko scored two goals and provided two assists in four league matches, while also registering 13 shot attempts and creating five goal-scoring chances. His contributions were instrumental in helping the team secure vital results during a tense period in the season.

Aroko began February on a high note, scoring the lone goal in Kariobangi Sharks’ narrow 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars, a result that boosted the team’s confidence early in the month. He followed this with another impressive performance in the 1-1 draw against KCB, where he found the back of the net once again to ensure his side picked up a valuable point.
The youngster continued to shine in the Slum Derby against Mathare United, where he provided an assist for captain Kevinluke Otiala in a tightly contested 1-1 draw. Aroko capped off his impressive February campaign with another assist in Kariobangi Sharks’ 1-0 victory over APS Bomet, setting up Ally Salum for a well-taken goal that sealed maximum points for the Nairobi-based club.
His performances not only demonstrated his technical ability and composure on the ball but also highlighted his growing influence in the team despite his young age.
Aroko’s energy in midfield, intelligent movement and eye for goal have quickly made him one of the most promising young players in the SportPesa League this season.
With this recognition, Aroko becomes the youngest player to win the SportPesa League Player of the Month award this season and the first Kariobangi Sharks player to receive the honour in the current campaign.
