FKF President Hussein Mohammed and Harold Ndege

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has broken his silence on the controversial dismissal of the federation’s former Chief Executive Officer Harold Ndege, citing a non-negotiable commitment to institutional integrity.

Appearing on Citizen TV’s Sporty Monday show, Mohammed confirmed that a formal show-cause letter had been issued to Ndege, noting that the specific grounds for the termination are already within the public domain.

“I gave a show-cause letter and it is in the public domain, cases are there. I don’t want to discuss the details because it’s a matter in court.”

While he declined to delve into the details of the allegations due to ongoing court cases, the President emphasized that the move was a reflection of the platform of accountability and transparency upon which he was elected to office.

“When I ran for office, I ran on the platform of integrity, accountability, and transparency. For me, there’s a line and that line can never be crossed.

When I leave this office, the public will ask me questions and I want to be able to look them in the eye and tell them that I did everything possible to ensure that the federation was run on integrity. Nobody will steal FKF resources on my watch,” he said.

The founder of Extreme Sports says the federation will continue with it’s restructuring efforts.

“We must have the right people in the right positions in the federation to be able to bring value. We need to grow FKF to a position where it is a respectable and credible institution that can stand the test of time and future generations will be proud of.

That transformation process is difficult and sometimes painful but necessary, and I will do whatever it takes to ensure that we leave a strong institution,” Mohammed added.

The dismissal has sparked a legal battle in the Employment and Labour Relations Court, as Ndege was ousted in February 2026 less than a year into his three-year contract.

Having been appointed in February 2025, Ndege has challenged his removal as wrongful and procedurally flawed, seeking approximately Ksh 44.8 million in compensation.

His legal team argues that the federation bypassed due process by installing an acting successor while Ndege still held an active contract.
