Speaking in the team’s final training session on Friday ahead of the clash, Oduor emphasized the importance of a winning start to their campaign.

“Tomorrow we have to start our campaign of the Cup strongly. This is the tournament that we won, so we start by playing L15 and our main ambition is to defend our trophy. To defend that, we have to make sure that we start by winning tomorrow’s match against L15 in Mombasa.”

“The team is jelling well, the players are in the mood to play and this is a very positive thing. We know for a team to win, we have to be together, we have to be happy for one another, we have to fight for each other, and this is what we are bringing to the team.”

While admitting that information on their opponents is limited, Oduor showed respect for L15’s recent achievements in the lower leagues which has seen them rise to Kenya’s third tier.

“Little is known about the opponent, but of course they were promoted as champions to Division One. It means they have some quality in them and we will take them seriously so that we make sure we collect maximum points.”
