Their journey began with a hard-fought tie against Uganda’s NEC FC, where Nairobi United advanced on the away goals rule.

The Kenyan side settled for a 2-2 draw away from home before grinding out a 1-1 draw at Nyayo Stadium, enough to see them progress.

The momentum continued as the Confederation Cup debutants stunned Tunisian giants Étoile Sportive du Sahel, holding them to a 2-2 aggregate score before edging them 7-6 in a tense post-match penalty shootout that goalkeeper Kevin Oduor was the hero.

Coach Salim believes those performances underline how far the team has come and why Kenyan fans should rally behind the squad at this crucial stage.

“It is not Nairobi United playing; it is a Kenyan team playing and representing the country. The last time Kenya reached this stage was in 2018, and I believe the boys have done wonders over the last year. If we get the fans; not just Nairobi United fans, but Kenyan fans; to support the team, it will make a big difference,” said Salim Ali.

The coach also pointed out that home support at Nyayo Stadium could be decisive against a well-drilled Azam FC side that boasts continental experience.

“The 12th player plays a huge role in matches like these, and I welcome all fans to come and support us.” added coach Salim Ali.

Nairobi United will be hoping to feed off the energy from the stands as they aim to make a strong continuation to their Group Stage campaign.

Fans wishing to attend the match can purchase tickets priced at KES 200 for regular admission, while VIP tickets are going for KES 500.
