Nairobi United, making their debut appearance in CAF competitions, have also endured a tough baptism, losing 3–0 away to Wydad Casablanca and 1–0 loss at home to AS Maniema Union in their opening two matches.
With both teams yet to register a point, Sunday’s fixture has taken on added significance, something Fei Toto is well aware of.

Speaking ahead of the match, the Tanzanian international emphasized the importance of staying disciplined and following the technical bench’s instructions.
“On our side, it will not be an easy game. It will be a difficult encounter. Both Azam FC and Nairobi United FC do not have any points yet in the group, and now everyone is focused on getting points from this game. As Azam players, we are following what our coaches are telling us in training, and we hope to get maximum points on Sunday.”

The creative midfielder also spoke about facing a side that is experiencing continental football for the first time but has already shown resilience and quality.
“It is the first time our opponents are playing in CAF competitions. We respect them a lot. We know they have good players with some experience, and they have a strong team. As players, we have prepared well ahead of facing them this Sunday.”
Nairobi United’s journey to the group stage has been impressive.
The SportPesa League outfit announced themselves on the continental scene by eliminating Ugandan Premier League side NEC FC before pulling off a historic upset against Tunisian giants Étoile Sportive du Sahel in the preliminary rounds.

Those results earned the Kenyan side a maiden appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages in their first time of asking and quickly established them as a team not to be underestimated.
Azam FC, on the other hand, are also tasting group stage football for the first time in the competition, having successfully navigated the preliminary rounds edging past South Sudan’s El Merriekh Bentiu and Zanzibar’s KMKM to book their place among Africa’s elite clubs this season.
The Dar es Salaam-based side will be keen to translate that achievement into positive results as they chase qualification to the knockout stages.

Sunday’s clash will be broadcast live on Azam Sports HD 2, giving fans across the region a chance to follow the action. Tickets for the match are available exclusively online at: https://patatix.com/e/NaiboisVSAzamFC and are priced at KES 200 for regular seats and KES 500 for VIP as Nairobi United look to enjoy strong home support at Nyayo Stadium.
With both teams desperate to keep their continental hopes alive, all signs point to a fiercely contested encounter in Nairobi.
