Paul Ochouga scored a dramatic late winner as he inspired Gor Mahia to a sensational comeback victory over Bidco United, sealing a 1-2 win in the SportPesa League Round 18 encounter.

Hosts Bidco United had taken an early first-half lead through Brian Mboya.

However, Gor Mahia stayed in the contest, with Ebenezer Assifuah, introduced from the bench in place of Christopher Ochieng’ making an instant impact as the seasoned striker restored parity, keeping K’Ogalo firmly in the game.

Just when the match appeared destined to end in a share of the spoils, Bidco conceded a foul on the right wing.

Enock Morrisson delivered a teasing ball into the box, which was deflected by a Bidco defender onto Paul Ochouga’s path.

The midfielder showed great composure, guiding the ball home to hand Gor Mahia three vital points and extend their lead at the top of the table to 36 points, three ahead of AFC Leopards.

At the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, Gor Mahia nearly took the lead in the 12th minute when Jackson Dwang met a fine cross from Ebenezer Aduk-waw.

His effort with his weaker foot narrowly missed the left corner as Gor continued to apply pressure but lacked the final touch.

Bidco responded seven minutes later when Brian Mboya surged down the right wing and delivered a dangerous volley that struck Collins Okello’s head, with the ball drifting inches wide.

Five minutes before the half-hour mark, Bidco United drew first blood.

Mboya rose highest to head home a well-placed cross from Thomas Wainaina on the left, catching Gor’s defence off guard and giving the hosts a deserved lead.

Gor struggled to carve out clear-cut chances as Bidco’s defence held firm, heading into the break with the hosts in front and setting the stage for a thrilling second half.

The second half began with Gor Mahia searching for rhythm.

Despite making two changes; Frank Odhiambo replacing Michael Kibwage and Assifuah coming on for Ochieng’, goals remained elusive initially.

The substitutions paid off two minutes after the hour mark when K’Ogalo finally found the equaliser.

Assifuah capitalised on a fine delivery from compatriot Aduk-waw, turning sharply inside the box before calmly slotting the ball into the right corner.

The goal was the culmination of excellent build-up play from Bryton Onyona down the left wing.

Gor Mahia dominated the closing stages, including nine minutes of added time, but it briefly appeared that Bidco were content to protect their backline and settle for a draw.

However, the drama was far from over. Deep into stoppage time, Charles Akonnor side earned a free kick, which Morrisson whipped into the danger area.

A defensive deflection fell kindly to Ochouga, who made no mistake with a composed finish.

A costly defensive lapse condemned Bidco, as Gor Mahia claimed a deserved victory despite Alpha Onyango being sent off late in the match.
