Nairobi United visit Kenya Police FC on Monday evening at the Police Sacco Stadium in what is expected to be a thrilling SportPesa League Round 17 encounter.

The clash gains additional intrigue as NaiBois will face a side now led by their former head coach, Nicholas Muyoti, who recently departed and was appointed by the Law Enforcers just days after they dismissed Serbian manager Dusan Stojanovic.

Stojanovic’s exit arrives merely two months after his appointment last November, which saw him replace title-winning coach Etienne Ndiyaragijje.

His tenure proved brief, with the reigning SportPesa League champions now enduring a five-match winless run -collecting four draws and one defeat.

In 2026, Kenya Police have yet to secure a victory, managing only two consecutive draws.

They will be desperate to return to winning ways and climb the table, having slumped to sixth place with 24 points nine behind joint leaders Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, who have 33.

For league newcomers NaiBois, everything is possible. They will aim to build on their recent 2–0 victory over KCB FC, their seventh win of a promising debut campaign.

An upset against their former coach could earn three points and potentially catapult them from eighth position (23 points) back into the top four.

Speaking ahead of the match, head coach Salim Ali told club media they are fully prepared for the encounter, noting the heightened intensity as last season’s league champions meet the FKF Cup holders.

“This will be a battle of former champions. They won the league, and we won the FKF Cup. Both teams have represented the country in the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup. It’s a privilege to play against them, especially away from home. The boys are ready and fully focused on tomorrow’s match,” he said.

He added, “The players are progressing well, and our preparation has been solid. I believe we have real depth in the squad. It’s about making the right choices who plays where and executing our overall game plan.”

Ali further emphasized that the focus remains on the team rather than individual storylines despite them going to face their former coach Muyoti.

“In football, coaches move and players move. Our attention is not on the coach but on the team we are facing. We have been preparing for Police for weeks, even before the coaching change. We are here on business, and we must deliver.”

This will be the first time the two sides face off in a top-flight encounter, with both teams eager to assert their dominance and begin writing a new chapter in their shared history.
