SportPesa League champions Police FC have sacked head coach Dusan Stojanovic and appointed Nicholas Muyoti after a string of poor results from the defending champions.

Police have dropped to fifth place with 24 points after a run of five games without a win. They are yet to win a game this year and come into this game on the back of three consecutive draws.

Stojanovic’s dismissal comes just two months after he was appointed in November last year, replacing their title-winning coach Etienne Ndiyaragijje.

“We believe that Muyoti has all it takes to steer Police back in the right direction.

“He has proven himself repeatedly and most recently by guiding Nairobi United to promotion and the CAF Confederation Cup qualification,” Police CEO Japheth Muyendo stated.

Muyoti will be thrown straight into the deep end against his former employers Nairobi United aiming to bounce back from a poor run of form.

The newcomers have turned their fortunes around and picked up form in recent weeks. Their form has seen them climb into seventh place with 23 points.

The newcomers have played 14 games this season; winning seven times and losing just five games. Most recently beating KCB 2-0 last Friday, courtesy of goals from Duncan Omala and Ovellah Ochieng’.

Police still have one game in hand against Bandari that could aid in closing the gap between them and the top three.

Prior to his stint at Nairobi United, Muyoti has previously managed a variety of Kenyan league clubs. Kakamega Homeboyz, Nzoia Sugar FC and Thika United being the most notable names on his resume.
