KCB played to a goalless draw against Kenya Police FC in the first match of gameweek 16 of the Sportpesa League played at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Friday afternoon.

The Bankers have now failed to win their last five matches against the Law Enforcers.

KCB head coach Robert Matano settled for a 1-4-4-2 with Bonphas Munyasa returning in goal, Nashon Alembi skippering the team and partnering Amatton Samunya in central defense alongside Masoud Fadhili at right back with Rowland Makati deployed in an unfamiliar position as left back due to injuries.

The midfield saw the evergreen Humphrey Mieno and Dennis Maruti while December Kisaka and Boniface Omondi with Kelvin Etemesi and Richard Omondi leading the attack.

For Police, Dusan Stojanoviv handed debuts to mid season signing duo of Briyock Malonga and Yves Koutiama.

Tobias Otieno was the first to get a real chance when pulled a stunner shot but it hit the cross bar and skied wide.

Richard Omondi then got the chance to give the bankers the leaf but his header went over the post.

Eric Zakayo then lead the attack from middle of the pack with a penetratatige pass to find new signing Hernest Malonga who stumbled on the ball and failed to convert for the score at 0-0 at halftime.

The Bankers were the first to make change at the break replacing Boniface Omondi with veteran playmaker Francis Kahata for his debut.

Police would then make a double Substitution in the 65th minute bringing on Alvin Mang’eni and Edward Omondi for Hernest Malonga and Gideon Muyadi respectively.

Kahata was the first to get into the referees book after a nasty challenge on Tobias Otieno,the law enforcers would equally receive a yellow card seconds later after Baraka Badi was penalized for fouling December Kisaka.

Fortune Omotto would get his first appearance since joining KCB at the start of the season replacing Richard Omondi in the 70th minute,Omotto has been sidelined with injury since joining from Kariobangi Sharks at the start of the season

The largely uneventful second half ended in a 0-0 scoreline at Full-time.

Elsewhere at Kasarani Annex, Sofapaka failed to hold on to a late lead against Sofapaka to get a 1-1 draw.

Clifton Miheso had given Batoto Ba Mungu the lead from the spot but the opener lasted just minutes as Herman Ngala headed the leveller from a Francis Chege cross.

The two teams have now failed to win each of their last eight matches.
