Menengai Oilers triumphed over Nondescripts to claim the Impala Floodlit 2025 title for the second consecutive year on Saturday night, November 8, at the Impala Grounds.
The Nakuru-based side narrowly overcame the three-time champions with a commanding 31-20 scoreline, claiming their second-ever title after dominating the entire 42nd edition of the tournament from the quarter-finals onward.

Their path to glory included a victory over KCB in the quarter-finals, followed by a hard-fought win against KU Blak Blad in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Nondies, who were seeking their first title since 2012, advanced past Strathmore Leos in their quarter-final and then toppled hosts Impala in the semi-finals to set up a thrilling final.
In the title decider, the Oilers drew first blood with an unconverted try from Ibrahim Oyoo, seizing an early 5-0 lead.
The Gibson Weru-coached squad extended their advantage shortly after when Chrispine Shitundo touched down, and with a successful conversion, they extended their lead to 12-0.

Nondies fought their way back onto the scoreboard with a converted try from Ryan Odrua, but the dominant Oilers swiftly responded with another try of their own, sending the teams into the first half with the score at 17-7.
Shortly, Nondies narrowed the deficit to five points with another try. However, a well-executed lineout maul allowed the Oilers to re-establish control, powering over for a converted try to make it 25-12.
Just before halftime, Nondies added three points from a penalty kick, heading into the break trailing 25-15.

The second half was characterized by handling errors from Nondies as they struggled to gain momentum against a resilient Oilers defense.
The Oilers further cemented their victory with a try from Beldad Ogeta and a penalty kick.
A try from Nondies’ Lamech Ambetsa was too little, too late, as the Oilers sealed a 31-20 victory to successfully defend their crown.
