This victory marks the Oilers’ impressive comeback after their appearance in the 2019 finals, where they were bested by 2023 champions KCB.
Menegai Oilers made history on Saturday night after recording an emphatic 42-3 win over Impala RFC to clinch their first-ever Impala Floodlit title in the 2024 edition of the tournament.
In the 41st edition of the tournament popularly referred to as Floodies, the Nakuru-based team showcased their dominance throughout the tournament to emerge as the ultimate champions.
The match began with the hosts taking an early lead with Quinto Ongo converting a penalty for three points just eight minutes in.

However, the Oilers quickly responded, with Ibrahim Ayoo scoring a try in the 12th minute to give them a 5-3 lead following a missed conversion.
Three minutes later, Samuel Mwaura crossed the line for another try, which Abutwalib Wesonga successfully converted, extending their lead to 12-3.
The Oilers continued their offensive surge with another try from Celestine Mboi, ending the first half with a substantial 24-3 advantage, even after being reduced to 14 men due to a red card.
In the second half, Gibson Weru made two crucial substitutions that helped Oilers to maintain their momentum.
Amos Obae scored two tries, pushing their lead to 34-3. Clinton Odhiambo added another try, though Wesonga’s conversions fell short.
Nevertheless, the Oilers solidified their dominance, reaching 39-3 before Wesonga successfully converted a penalty to finalize the score at 42-3.
Meanwhile, 2023 champions KCB RFC finished in fifth place after a dominant 74-5 victory over Strathmore Leos. KCB had previously been eliminated in the quarter-finals following a shock 9-8 defeat against Blak blad.
Additionally, Rift Varsities claimed victory in the Impala Floodlit Varsity final, defeating the Kabete Stallions 34-18, while Nondies secured third place in the playoffs with a 31-15 win against Blak Blad.
