Kenya’s senior men’s national team, the Harambee Stars, have climbed two places in the latest FIFA Rankings released on October 17, 2025.

The Harambee Stars are now ranked at position 109, a slight improvement from their 111th position in the last ranking released in September.

The rise follows mixed results for the Benni McCarthy-coached team during the recent ranking window, where they played two FIFA World Cup qualifiers: a 1-0 win away to Burundi and a 3-0 loss to Ivory Coast in Abidjan.

Speaking before the World Cup Qualifier match against Ivory Coast, Harambee Stars assistant coach Vasili Manoukis had underlined the importance of securing constant victories to boost the country’s ranking

“Anytime the national team takes on the pitch, the intention is always to win. We have to go out, create that winning culture. The mindset is to approach all the games in the same manner and play on the front foot and try to go for the win always which will in turn boost our chances at increasing our FIFA Ranking.”

In comparison with their East African neighbors, Uganda remains the top-ranked nation in the region at 83rd globally, dropping one position in the latest ranking, followed by Tanzania at 107th.

Kenya is two positions lower than Tanzania.

Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi, and Ethiopia are ranked 119th, 131st, 145th, and 147th respectively. South Sudan is at 167th, while Djibouti and Somalia close the chapter in 196th and 202nd.

Eritrea remains unranked having not played a FIFA recognized match in the last 48 months.

Globally, Spain remains the top-ranked nation with Argentina, France, England, and Portugal closing out the top five in that order. Morocco, the top-ranked African nation, is 12th in the world.

The Harambee Stars will be hoping to be in action in the next FIFA International window scheduled for 10th to 18th November.
The next FIFA Men’s Ranking will be released 35 days from now, on November 21, 2025.
