AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani asks fans for forgiveness

However, Ambani has publicly asked for the fans’ forgiveness. Speaking to Azam Sports Kenya, he urged for continued patience and voiced his hope for a positive outcome in their next outing.

Our fans have been patient with us, and I still urge them to continue with their support because we have no other option. They are our fans; we have no others. We ask for their understanding and we will keep assuring them that things will turn around in due time.

We are not happy with today’s draw- this is the third one. These are not good results for the team, especially considering how hard we’ve fought to secure these three points; it hasn’t been easy.”

Ambani breaks down tactical gamble that backfired vs Bandari FC

AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani has publicly apologized to the club’s fans after a disappointing run of winless results in the early stages of the season.

Explaining what went wrong, the former Ingwe player stated that he had experimented with a new formation in an attempt to secure a win, but the strategy did not pay off.

“For this match, we introduced a different tactical setup that we had never used before, and we saw it wasn’t effective for us, so we had to revert to our usual shape. We intended to utilize wide players, but it didn’t work out. It was something we were trialing for the first time because we are striving to get the best possible results after the last two matches.”

He admitted the team delivered a poor performance in the first half but managed to improve after the break, though they ultimately failed to capitalize on the opportunities they created.

“The first half was terrible; we really struggled. However, in the second half, we managed to pick ourselves up and the boys started to exploit the wings. Despite posing more of a threat, we couldn’t convert our chances and, unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side.”

The SportPesa League is currently on a brief hiatus, with no fixtures this weekend, as the nation mourns the late former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga. Therefore, Ingwe will use the coming days to prepare for their next fixture the following weekend.
