The Safari 7s 2025 pools have been announced ahead of the tournament taking place from 10-12 October at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The Kenya men’s national rugby 7s team, Shujaa, headline Pool A where they have been paired up against French Renegades, UK Select and Walukuba Rugby as they prepare to defend their title on home soil.
Walukuba come into the tournament after being crowned champions in the 2025 Uganda National Sevens Circuit.

Pool B sees last year runners up Shogun face off against Uganda, 2025 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit champions KCB and Nyati who will be replacing Zambia.
Reports indicate Zambia withdrew from the tourney citing insufficient funds as they focus their limited resources on the women’s team that will be taking part in the Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens Cup in Nairobi in November.
The final pool has Kenya Morans placed alongside dark horses Zimbabwe, Apache and ReUnion.
In the women’s category, defending champions Costa Blanca Barabarians headline Pool A where they will face Shogun, Kenya Cubs and Mwamba Select.
Pool B has the Kenya women’s 7s side Lionesses, Uganda, Belgium and Tunisia.

Safari 7s 2025 tournament
The 27th edition of the Safari Sevens is set to electrify the Nyayo National Stadium from 10-12 October with 20 teams confirmed for the prestigious tournament (12 men and 8 women).
This year’s event is particularly notable as it marks a return to the historic Nyayo National Stadium for the first time since 2021 and the tournament’s return to Nairobi after being held for the first time outside the capital in Machakos last year.
Shujaa will enter the tournament as the defending champions, having claimed the crown following a 12-0 win over Shogun at last year’s event which took place in Machakos while Costa Blanca Barabarians will return from Spain to defend the women’s title.
