Harambee Stars forward Ryan Wesley Ogam has set an ambitious target of 10 goals in his debut season with Austrian club Wolfsberger AC, following his recent transfer from Kenyan Giants Tusker FC.

Ogam, who made his first appearance in the Austrian Bundesliga over the weekend as a substitute, responding to questions asked by Sportpesa Blog on Monday, October 6, at the Police Sacco Grounds about his move, adapting to life in Austria, and the national team’s crucial upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

“It was a great feeling to make my debut over the weekend and get my first minutes there,” Ogam said. “I’m adjusting to the league and looking forward to getting more minutes.”

The 22-year-old came on in the 75th minute of Wolfsberger’s away match against Grazer AK, helping his new side secure a dominant 3-1 victory in the top-flight league.

With his debut secured, Ogam is focusing on finding the back of the net. “I have set my target at 10 goals for the season,” he revealed.

“I don’t know how long it will take, but the most important thing is getting the first goal, then everything else will fall in place.”

Ogam has credited a strong support system for his quick adapting off the pitch.

“Austria has been good; I have adapted faster than I thought, “I would like to thank the Kenyan Ambassador to Austria, Maurice Makoloo, my teammates, and the technical bench for a warm welcome.”

When asked about the difference between the Austrian Bundesliga and the Kenyan league, Ogam pointed to the level of professionalism. “There are several differences in terms of structures. I can say the league is more professional.

Kenya isn’t very far, but we are building slowly we’ll get there someday.”

Ogam confirmed that Harambee Stars will take a very serious approach to the upcoming World Cup Qualifier matches against Burundi and Ivory Coast despite being already mathematically eliminated from qualification.

” We are taking them with maximum seriousness. We are going for all the possible points.”

Finally, Ogam took time to acknowledge the massive support from Kenyan fans who have been flooding his new club’s social media pages.

“I want to say a big thank you to all the fans, their support means a lot,” he said. “My club recognizes them a lot, and I want to ask them to continue supporting us.”

Ogam announced his arrival at the national stage as the main man scoring two crucial goals against Zambia and Morocco during CHAN before following up with a brace in the World Cup Qualifiers against Seychelles.
