Kenyan defender Zak Vyner played the entire 90 minutes as Bristol City suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Queens Park Rangers in a Championship clash at Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon.
The Harambee Stars prospect was once again a key figure in City’s backline, but his efforts were not enough to prevent the Robins from falling to a spirited QPR comeback.

Emil Riis gave Bristol City a deserved first-half lead when he scored his fourth goal of the campaign in the 32nd minute.
The Danish forward connected superbly with Neto Borges’ cross, heading the ball into the top corner to put the home side in front after an energetic start.
Before the goal, City had created several promising chances through Anis Mehmeti, Mark Sykes, and Scott Twine, with Twine missing narrowly from close range following an excellent cutback from Riis.
After the break, however, the visitors turned the tide. Richard Kone equalised for QPR in the 66th minute, smashing home from inside the box after Bristol failed to clear their lines. The goal lifted the R’s, who continued to press for a winner.

City almost regained the lead when Mehmeti’s shot drifted inches wide in the 72nd minute, while substitute Ross McCrorie saw his attempt blocked by the resolute QPR defence.
The decisive moment arrived in the 84th minute when Paul Smyth rose highest to head home Jimmy Dunne’s cross, giving QPR a dramatic turnaround and leaving the home supporters stunned.
Bristol City pushed for a late equaliser, with Borges’ free kick striking the wall and Yu Hirakawa heading narrowly over in stoppage time, but it wasn’t enough to rescue a point.

Following the match, midfielder Adam Randell admitted the side were disappointed with their second-half performance.
“It was incredibly frustrating – we were two different teams in each half. Our pressing was excellent in the first half, but we took our foot off the gas after the break and they punished us,” said Randell.
“We had chances to finish the game off but didn’t take them. We’ll look at what went wrong, fix it, and come back stronger after the international break.”
For Zak Vyner, who continues to impress with his composure and consistency, the focus now shifts to regrouping with his teammates as they prepare to face Norwich City away on Saturday, October 18, after the international break.
The loss to QPR marked Bristol City’s second defeat of the Championship campaign, leaving them eager to bounce back quickly and reignite their push up the league table.
