Gor Mahia stun KCB for second SportPesa League win despite Odhiambo’s penalty woes
  • Gor Mahia edged KCB FC 0-1 to secure their second win of the 2025/26 SportPesa League season.
  • The Matchweek 4 clash was staged at Dandora Stadium on Sunday, October 5.
  • The decisive goal was scored by new signing Felix Olouch, marking his first for the club.

New signing Felix Olouch announced his arrival at Gor Mahia, netting his debut goal in only his second start to inspire his team to a second consecutive Sportpesa League 25/26 victory with a 0-1 win over KCB on Sunday afternoon.

However, while the former Posta Rangers forward found his way onto the scoresheet, it was another gloomy outing at the Dandora Stadium as Austine Odhiambo missed his second consecutive penalty, having also failed from the spot against Sofapaka.

As a result, Gor now have six points from their first three matches of the season and will head into the international break in a healthier position on the log.

KCB, meanwhile, suffered their second loss of the campaign in what was their fourth match, having won the other two.

The parked Dandora Stadium painted white and green, saw the first attempt of the game in the seventh minute.

The visitors won a free-kick on the left flank, which Austine delivered with a volleyed cross into the box. The ball found Ebenezer Adukwaw’s head, but his close-range effort went narrowly wide as Gor continued to dominate the early proceedings.

Gor was dealt a blow just 13 minutes in, as central midfielder Alpha Onyango, who seemed to have sustained an injury, was forced into an early substitution, with Fidel Origa coming on in his place.

As the match approached the half-hour mark, Gor maintained their strong play, camping in the Bankers’ final third. Adukwaw managed a touch inside the box with his left foot, but the ball didn’t settle well for him, and the chance was wasted, with the match remaining a cagey affair.

Two minutes later, KCB launched a quick counter-attack from the left wing. The ball was switched to the right, where December Kisakah delivered a well-placed cross into the box. Richard Omondi met it with his head, but his powerful header sailed over the bar.

With Gor Mahia immediately re-establishing their dominance in midfield, KCB’s Robert Matano was forced into a change, substituting Mathias Isogoli for Rowland Makati to add some defensive steel and cool down Gor’s control in the center of the park.

Despite Gor’s first-half dominance, they could not find the back of the net.

Matano’s tactical change managed to ease the pressure through the middle, allowing KCB to venture into Gor’s final third and create a few chances of their own, though none found their way past the goalkeeper as the teams went into the break deadlocked.

Gor Mahia picked up right where they left off, dominating the start of the second half.

Just as the hour mark ticked by, Gor managed to draw first blood through Felix Olouch, who scored a fine finish.

The goal came after Adukwaw made a driving run into the box and, instead of shooting, unselfishly laid a cross from the left to the waiting Olouch, who made no mistake in giving K’Ogalo the lead.

K’Ogalo didn’t rest on their laurels; they continued to press for a second goal and in the 79th minute, they were awarded a penalty after Odhiambo was brought down in the box by Elvis Ochieng.

Odhiambo was again entrusted with the spot-kick, but for the second game running, he failed to convert, having his effort saved just as he did against Sofapaka the previous weekend.

Gor pushed to double their advantage but couldn’t manage another goal, ultimately settling for the three points and handing the Bankers their second loss of the season.
