Ulinzi Stars’ standout winger Boniface Muchiri has opened up about how he’s using his national team experience to positively influence his club teammates in the domestic league.
Muchiri was among the players who shone brightly during the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 in August, a tournament Kenya co-hosted alongside Uganda and Tanzania. He played a pivotal role in helping the team reach the historic quarter-finals.

Speaking exclusively to the SportPesa Blog after Kariobangi Sharks held them to a goalless draw on Wednesday in a 25/26 SportPesa League matchweek two fixture, the winger stated that since returning from national duty, he has been guiding his club with his experience, particularly the younger stars.
Of course, coming in from the national team, my role is to encourage the young ones to express themselves and showcase their talent on the pitch. All I tell them is not to worry about making mistakes, which is a fundamental part of the game.
If they focus on playing, the results will follow. Those are the insights I have shared with them,” Muchiri explained regarding his influence at the club.
Ulinzi Stars kicked off this new Sportpesa League era on a high note, winning their league opener for the first time in four years by stunning Murang’a SEAL 1-0, thanks to a solo goal from Paul Okoth.
Boniface Muchiri impressed by new Club signings and rising stars

The former Tusker FC player praised the emerging talents for how seamlessly they have integrated into the squad, stating that it is their moment to shine.
He also expressed hope that these new prospects for coach Dunstan Nyaudo will help the club achieve greater heights, leaving them with advice to remain humble.
When you look at players like Leonleviit Osiago, they have been performing exceptionally well in the two matches. A player like Paul Okoth has gelled seamlessly with us, as have Emilio Brian and Peter Manyika; all have been expressing themselves brilliantly.
You cannot have a strong football future without relying on youth- it is their time now. My daily advice to them is to stay humble because they still have a long journey ahead.
I must congratulate them on their performances so far; if they maintain this momentum, they will propel the club to significant success,” Muchiri remarked.

Ulinzi Stars, four-time Kenyan top-flight champions, are charging into the new Sportpesa era as they seek a fifth title.
They currently lead the table with four points and look forward to facing Kenya Police FC on Tuesday, 30 September, in their third league match.
