With the overall 2025 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit title already secured by KCB Rugby, the focus now shifts to crowning the winner of the final leg – the Dala 7s, at the Jomo Kenyatta Mamboleo Stadium in Kisumu this evening, Sunday, September 14.

The tournament has narrowed down to the top four teams. KCB toppled Strathmore Leos in a quarterfinal clash earlier today, a match that felt like a final before the final.

They advance to their sixth consecutive semifinal and will face the Kabeberi 7s finalists, Daystar Falcons.

Both teams are eager to end the season on a high note, despite the Bankers having already clinched the overall championship.

Meanwhile, defending Dala 7s champions Kabras Sugar are aiming for their first final of the season and their first piece of silverware.

They will take on Menengai Oilers, who are appearing in their second final this year.

Dala 7s 2025 Quarterfinal Recap

Kabras Sugar 19-5 Nondies

The Millers started strong, with Mathias Osimbo crossing the try line just one minute after kickoff. They took a 7-0 lead after a successful conversion by Rayvon Ambale.

Four minutes later, Nondies narrowed the deficit to two points when Tony Odhiambo broke through in the right corner, making it 7-5 after a missed conversion.

It was a back-and-forth first half, but Kabras extended their advantage with an unconverted try from Eric Cantona. Kevin Wekesa then stretched the lead to 19-5 just before halftime with a well-taken try that was accurately converted.

The second half saw Nondies attempting a comeback, but poor ball handling cost them dearly. Kabras advanced to their third semifinal of the season, still in pursuit of their first trophy.

Nondies will now compete in the fifth-place playoff.

Menengai Oilers 36-5 Mwamba RFC

The Oilers built on their impressive form from Saturday and were quick to break the deadlock.

Bildad Ogeta scored the opening try, converted by Eric Ogutu, who soon added a second putting Oilers up 12-0. John Okoth and Daniel Kipchirchir then scored two more tries, giving Oilers a commanding 24-0 lead at halftime.

After the break, Oilers continued to dominate. Nelson Makokha and Alvin Kavuli extended the lead to 36-0.

Although Mwamba managed a consolation try, Oilers secured their place in their fourth semifinal of the season as they continue their quest for a maiden title.

Oilers will face Kabras in the semifinals, while Mwamba will play against Nondies.

Daystar Falcons 12-10 Nakuru RFC

This was a tightly contested match. Nakuru drew first blood with a try from Cyprian Ombaso, taking a 5-0 lead.

However, speedster Patrick Odongo responded with two tries, giving Falcons a 12-5 advantage at halftime.

Ombaso scored again early in the second half, narrowing the gap to 12-10, but the conversion was missed.

Daystar Falcons held on to advance to the semifinal, where they will pursue a historic second-ever appearance in the National Sevens final.

KCB 15-14 Strathmore Leos

Coming into this quarterfinal, the two teams had previously met four times in cup contests this season, with KCB winning twice.

Vincent Onyala was the first to score, giving the Bankers a 5-0 lead within two minutes. Strathmore Leos hit back through Brian Mwenwa to take a 7-5 lead in a tightly contested first half.

After the break, George Ooro saved the Bankers with a try in the right corner, which Festus Shiasi converted.

However, it did not take long for Samwel Wafula to surge through the KCB defense, giving Leos a 14-10 lead as their defense continued to dominate.

Yet, Ooro, in his first season with the club, emerged as the hero. He dashed through the left wing to score the winning try just as the final hooter sounded.

KCB were crowned series champions and progressed to the Dala 7s semifinal, where they will face Daystar Falcons, seeking a sixth consecutive final appearance this season. Meanwhile, Leos faltered in their chance and will play for fifth place against Nakuru RFC.
