The final leg of the 2025 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit, the Dala 7s, enjoyed a successful opening day on Saturday.
Four teams, KCB, Kabras Sugar, Menengai Oilers, and Daystar Falcons, all progressed to the main cup quarterfinals unscathed at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu.

This sets the stage for a thrilling Sunday, where the final eight teams will face off in the quarterfinals at the same venue.
A highly anticipated clash will see two title contenders, KCB Rugby and Strathmore Leos, meet in a pivotal match.
This encounter could ultimately decide the overall series champion.
If KCB defeats the Leos and advances to the semifinal, they will be immediately crowned the new SportPesa series champions.
However, if Strathmore Leos prevail, KCB’s fate would be delayed, depending on subsequent results.

For the Leos to claim the overall title, they must not only win this match but also go on to win the Dala 7s trophy.
That means Leos must throw everything into this clash, promising an intense, high-stakes quarterfinal.
Meanwhile, Menengai Oilers managed to top Pool D after delivering an upset against the Leos. They will now face Mwamba RFC in another last-eight fixture.
Kabras Sugar, seeking their first silverware of the season, topped Pool A. They will take on Nondescript, who earned promotion from the Kabeberi 7s and finished second in Pool B; they are also eyeing their first circuit trophy.
Daystar Falcons, who reached their first-ever Sevens final at Kabeberi, are aiming to build on that momentum after topping Pool B.
Their opponents will be Nakuru RFC, who staged a impressive comeback to secure a quarterfinal spot after a slow start, having missed out in Kabeberi.

Group Stage Recap: Dala 7s 2025
Pool A
Nakuru RFC staged a comeback to secure a Main Cup quarterfinal berth, narrowly defeating MMUST 24–17 in their final pool match.
Wanyore began the leg poorly, falling 14–10 to Catholic Monks and also losing 21–14 to Kabras Sugar.
Although Nakuru, MMUST, and the Monks finished with equal points, Nakuru advanced due to head-to-head superiority.
Kabras Sugar progressed unbeaten, winning all three of their matches: 34–15 against MMUST, 21–14 over Nakuru, and a tight 19–14 victory against the Monks after a second-half scare.
This pool was highly competitive, with each team securing at least one win, though only two could advance.

Pool B
The Kabeberi 7s finalists, Daystar Falcons, topped the group undefeated. They recorded wins over Kenya Harlequins (20–14), Nondescript (31–12), and Mombasa Sport Club (12–0), fueling their hopes of reaching another final and claiming a maiden title.
Newly promoted Nondescript performed strongly to finish second, with their only loss coming against the Falcons.
They aim to establish themselves among the Kenya 7s heavyweights and are also pursuing their first silverware of the season. Kenya Harlequins finished third with five points from one win, while Mombasa ended the day without a victory.

Pool C
KCB moved one step closer to the overall title by securing a quarterfinal spot as pool winners, remaining undefeated.
They dominated Homeboyz 36–12 and smashed Embu RFC 36–0. They now need only to win their quarterfinal match on Sunday to keep their championship hopes alive.
They advanced alongside Impala RFC, who finished second with two wins. Homeboyz managed one victory, while Embu concluded the group stage without a win.
Pool D
Strathmore Leos and Menengai Oilers had both already qualified for the quarterfinals before their final meeting, which was solely to decide the group winner for pairing purposes. The Oilers were sharp and convincingly beat the Leos 24–7 to claim the top spot.
They now seek their second final and first Cup title of the season.
Despite a spirited effort, the Leos settled for second place and must dig deeper as they prepare to face KCB in the quarterfinals.
