The final leg of the 2025 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit, the Dala 7s, kicked off on Saturday morning with a bang as the tournament’s heavyweights made strong starts at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu.
This thrilling event marks the sixth and final leg of the series, following the successful conclusion of the Driftwood, Prinsloo, Christie, Embu and Kabeberi 7s held at various venues across the country.
And it’s delivering nothing short of electrifying clashes, with the title still up for grabs between two fierce contenders KCB Rugby and Strathmore Leos who are throwing everything on the line.

KCB needs to reach the cup semifinals to clinch the overall title, while Strathmore must win the tournament outright and hope KCB stumbles before the final four.
The stakes couldn’t be higher, making this final showdown a spectacle not to be missed.
The opening act of the day echoed last weekend’s Kabeberi 7s as Nakuru RFC once again struggled to find its footing.
They suffered a narrow 14-10 loss to Catholic Monks in Pool A. The Monks, aiming to improve upon their sixth-place finish in Kabeberi, struck early through tries from Hassan Wambani and Felix Omondi, both successfully converted.
Wanyore, had early momentum but failed to capitalize. Tries by Wilson Makete and Fidel Wekesa went unconverted, costing them a potential win.
The defending champions of this tournament, Kabras Sugar, began their campaign in the same group convincingly by toppling MMUST 34-15.

Their quest to defend their title and secure their first sevens silverware of the season commenced on a positive note.
While it was a solid start, it was slightly less dominant than their performance at the Kabeberi 7s, where they progressed to the quarterfinals unbeaten without conceding a single point in their pool.
As they pursue their first title of the season, they will be aiming to defend their crown and secure a second consecutive victory at this event.
Over in Pool B, recently promoted Nondescripts RFC made a thunderous return to the top tier, crushing Mombasa Sports Club 41-5.
After missing out on the fifth leg due to relegation in Embu 7s, they bounced back by winning the Division Two title earning their spot back in style.

Mombasa RFC, one of the surprise packages at Kabeberi after reaching the quarterfinals and stunning Nakuru, had a rough start this time around.
They’ll be desperate to redeem themselves in their next match against Kenya Harlequins.
Speaking of Quins, they were on the brink of a perfect start but were undone by a stunning comeback from Daystar Falcons, who edged them 20-14.
Falcons, fresh off a finals appearance in Kabeberi, are determined to go one better this round and lift the title.
Meanwhile, Quins, still chasing their first main cup final appearance of the season, remain hopeful of a turnaround in their remaining group matches.
In Pool C, three-time Dala 7s champions Mwamba RFC roared into action, demolishing Embu Dragons 41-0.
After reaching the Kabeberi quarterfinals, Levin Asego’s charges are pushing hard in this final leg to boost their overall standing, currently sitting 11th with 33 points.

KCB, the reigning overall circuit champions and six-time winners, survived a scare against a resurgent Homeboyz Rugby in the second half to win 29-12.
The Bankers’ objective this weekend is straightforward – reach the main cup semifinals to be crowned the new Sportpesa National Sevens circuit champions.
Finally, Pool D action saw Menengai Oilers run riot against hosts Kisumu RFC, securing a 50-0 win. Meanwhile, Strathmore Leos, in pursuit of their first-ever overall title, started brilliantly with a clinical 29-0 win over Impala RFC.
