- KCB Rugby will face Daystar Falcons in the 2025 Kabeberi 7s final on Sunday at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.
- KCB booked their spot after edging out Kabras Sugar 21-17 in a tightly contested semifinal.
- The Falcons delivered a stunning upset, overpowering Strathmore Leos 12-10 to reach their first-ever National Sevens final.
The Daystar Falcons created history by securing their first-ever ticket to the SportPesa National Sevens Circuit finals, narrowly edging out Strathmore Leos 12-10 in the 2025 Kabeberi 7s semifinals on Sunday afternoon at the RFUEA grounds in Nairobi.
The Falcons defied expectations from the group stage, where they finished first.
They were seeded with the Menengai Oilers in the quarterfinals, whom they also defeated 24-19, and are now in their maiden finals appearance where they will be seeking their first title of the season.
As a result, they will face KCB rugby, who advanced to their fifth consecutive SportPesa National Sevens Circuit final after brushing aside rivals Kabras Sugar 21-17.
The Millers had a strong run in this fifth outing of the series, finishing the group stages unscathed without conceding a single point.
They also beat Mombasa Sports Club in the quarterfinals, but their hopes for a first title this season were dashed by the Bankers, who are now seeking their third title of the series.
Kabeberi 7s Semifinal Recap

KCB vs Kabras Sugar
KCB came out swinging, camping in Kabras territory within the opening minutes.
A powerful scrum near the try line allowed Samwel Asati to dash over the whitewash, giving the Bankers a 7-0 lead following Festus Shiasi’s successful conversion.
Kabras responded almost immediately after kickoff. Back from international duty in Monaco, Kevin Wekesa broke through the KCB defense but unselfishly handed the ball to Michael Olukusi, who touched down to level the score at 7-7 after Rayvon Ambale slotted the conversion.
In this see-saw encounter, KCB regained the lead as Bob Muhati sliced through on the left flank for a try. Shiasi converted again, taking the score to 14-7.
Just before the break, Kabras trimmed the deficit with a swift play that saw Ambale offload to Olukusi, who grounded it in the corner. However, they missed the conversion, heading into halftime trailing 14-12.
KCB wasted no time in the second half. Straight from the kickoff, they launched a high-intensity attack. Minutes later, speedster Floyd Wabwire extended the lead to 21-12 after receiving a slick offload from Muhati.
Despite Kabras’ last-ditch effort that saw Mathews Osimbo notch a late try, time ran out. The defending champions KCB held on for a 21-17 win, punching their ticket to a fifth straight final in this year’s circuit.
Kabras will now battle for third place against the high-flying Daystar Falcons.
Daystar Falcons vs Strathmore Leos
The Falcons hit the ground running, with lightning-fast Patrick Odongo darting down the right wing to score the opening try. They missed the conversion, leading 5-0.
Denied earlier by a try-saving tackle from Odongo, Victor Mola eventually powered through on the left wing to level the score at 5-5.
Just before halftime, Clinton Amukwachi broke through for Falcons, and after Eddy Wambugu nailed the conversion, the underdogs led 12-5 heading into the break.
The second half remained tense and try-less, as the Falcons’ gritty defense held off a late surge from the Leos. A try from Victor Mola was not enough to prevent the Falcons from booking their spot in the final with a narrow 12-10 victory.
