The penultimate round of the 2025 Sportpesa National Sevens Circuit kicked off on the morning of Saturday, September 6, with the Kabeberi 7s at the RFUEA Grounds on Ngong Road, Nairobi.

This fifth leg of the six-round national Sevens series saw the overall leaders, KCB Rugby, launch their campaign in dominant fashion.

With 82 points already secured, the bankers made a powerful statement of intent to claim their third title this season and defend their Kabeberi 7s crown by thrashing Mean Machine 54-0.

KCB, now under the stewardship of Andrew Amonde who stepped in as head coach following the temporary suspension of Dennis Mwanja, are also eager to redeem themselves after falling to Strathmore Leos in the Embu 7s final.

In the same Group A, Mombasa RFC who had missed the Embu 7s two weeks ago, returned to action with renewed energy, narrowly edging out Nakuru RFC 15-14 in their opening match.

Group B featured Strathmore Leos, champions of both the Embu and Prinsloo 7s, who began their quest for a third title in style, dismantling hosts Mwamba RFC 25-7.

Meanwhile, defending overall champions Kenya Harlequins had a shaky start to this penultimate round, being held to a 10-10 draw by Impala RFC.

Elsewhere in Group C, Daystar Falcons made a positive start, defeating Division Two Embu 7s champions Homeboyz RFC 15-7.

However, MMUST fresh off their first semifinal appearance in Embu, suffered a disappointing 26-5 loss to the Catholic Monks.

Also in Group D, Menengai Oilers- runners-up in the Christie 7s and third-place finishers in Embu, continued their impressive form with a clinical 45-0 victory over invited side Embu RFC.
