What is Simba Day?
Simba Day is an annual celebration organized by Tanzanian outfit Simba just before the start of a new season. The club uses the occasion to unveil new signings ahead of the Tanzania Premier League campaign.
Simba also curates the day into a festival where top artists mostly from the country entertain the crowds with live performances.
The climax of the festivities ends with a friendly match between Simba and an invited club which is going to be Gor Mahia in 2025.
The match will form part of Gor Mahia’s preparations for the new season where they will be hoping to reclaim the titles they missed in the 24/25 Football Kenya Federation Premier League campaign.

K’Ogalo lost the league title to Kenya Police and finished trophyless after being stunned 2-1 by minnows Nairobi United in the Football Kenya Federation Cup.
Those changes led to the sacking of the entire technical bench led by Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno.
To steer the ship from the 25/26 campaign, Gor Mahia acquired the services of Ghanaian tactician Charles Akonnor. The experienced manager, who has coached several clubs in Ghana including Asante Kotoko, signed a two-year deal with Gor Mahia.
