Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have responded swiftly to finishing the 2024/2025 campaign without a trophy as they have fired their entire technical bench, SportPesa Blog can confirm.

The season saw 21-time Kenyan champions relinquish their league title after finishing behind winners Kenya Police before an embarrassing 2-1 defeat against second-tier side Nairobi United in the Football Kenya Federation Cup 2025.

The decision sees the bench led by interim head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, assistant coach Michael Nam, Team Manager Victor Nyaoro, goalkeeper trainer Boniface Oluoch, trainer John Thomas Nyakundi all walking out of the club.

Additionally, the kit manager and members of the team security have also been fired.

“Gor Mahia Football Club wishes to inform its supporters, stakeholders, and the general public that it has mutually agreed with the entire technical bench, including members of the team security, to part ways effective 2nd July 2025.

This decision follows a comprehensive internal review and is part of the Club’s broader restructuring process aimed at strengthening its technical and operational capacity in preparation for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

The separation has been reached amicably and in good faith, with the Club recognizing and appreciating the contributions made by the outgoing staff. We extend our sincere gratitude to the individuals involved for their commitment, professionalism, and service to the Club during their tenure.

As we begin a new chapter, Gor Mahia FC remains committed to building a solid foundation that will support competitive excellence both on and off the pitch.

Further announcements regarding the new technical setup will be made in due course,” the club posted.

The 24/25 season saw Gor hire and fire two different coaches within the same season.

After Johnathan McKinstry left the club at the end of the 23/24 campaign to take up The Gambia’s national team job, K’Ogalo appointed Brazilian Leornardo Neiva as his successor.

However, the coach was sacked after just six league matches with Zico named interim head coach in November 2024.

He stayed in the position till February 2025 when Sinisa Mihic was appointed head coach. Mihic was sacked in May with Zico once again entrusted as interim head coach before his sacking.
