The 27-year-old has now revealed the crucial role that his beloved mother played to help him re-join the club that is dear to him.
According to Eze, who was released from the Arsenal Academy at the age of 13, his mother prayed for his return to the club that finished second in the Premier League last season two decades ago.
“I’ll be honest, I thought about coming back from the moment I understood other clubs and what it meant to become a pro. I’ve always thought Arsenal is where it’s at. That’s what I want to achieve as well, what I want to get to.
And, I remember the day I got released, my mum said a prayer. She said she was praying that this reverse would happen. She prayed for this. So, for me, this is a realization of a prayer that we prayed for 20-odd years ago, man,” Eze explained during an interview with Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

The versatile player added that he sees God’s hand in the transfer move that has pleased millions of Arsenal supporters across the world.
“This is deeper than anyone can understand. And, for me, I can see God’s hand in it, so I know it’s meant to be,” he stated.

Shortly afterwards, Wright gave him a recorded video from Henry, who urged him to always give his best when playing for the club.
“Hello, big man. This is Thierry here. Long time no see. First and foremost welcome to Arsenal. We all know how much you wanted to play for Arsenal. Wear the cannon at the Emirates. There you go. It’s not a dream anymore, it’s not a utopia.
That has become a reality. So, make sure that you make it count. Remember, when I first arrived at Arsenal, they told me that it is a club that has class, it’s a family club, and you have to fight. No matter what. Okay? All the very best. So happy,” advised Henry.
