The Christie 7s, marking the third leg of the 2025 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit, is set to take place this weekend from 16-17 August at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.
KCB Rugby emerged triumphant at the season-opening Driftwood 7s in Mombasa while Strathmore Leos exacted revenge by dethroning them in the second leg at the Prinsloo 7s in Nakuru as they successfully defended their title.
The Christie 7s pools were drawn ahead of the Prinsloo 7s final, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the most captivating showdowns of the 2025 circuit.
Celebrating its 59th edition, the Christie 7s offers hosts Kenya Harlequins a crucial chance to bounce back after two underwhelming performances that have left them languishing in seventh place overall.
They will be determined to turn things around in Group A where they will battle Leos who are joint leaders after finishing second in Driftwood and first at Prinsloo. Their group also includes Zetech Oaks and Mombasa Rugby, adding further intensity to the contest.
The tournament presents a golden opportunity for the hosts to avenge last season’s heartbreak when Kabras Sugar edged them out in the cup final, denying them the title on home soil.

Pool B features the resurgent Catholic Monks, who put on a stellar show to finish third in Nakuru by defeating Menengai Oilers in the third place playoff.
The Monks are hoping to extend their rich vein of form as they square off against Nakuru RFC, currently third overall, Impala RFC and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST).
The Monks are also eager to go one better this year after finishing third in the 2024 edition where they claimed bronze against Strathmore Leos.

Group C is set to be explosive.
Fourth-placed Menengai Oilers, after two disappointing outings, will be looking to redeem themselves.
Their toughest task will be overcoming defending champions Kabras Sugar who sit fifth in the current standings and are equally determined to not only retain their title but reignite their 2025 campaign.
This group also includes Daystar Falcons and Uganda’s Ruga Ruga Select, promising fireworks.
KCB Rugby, the current table leaders, are aiming to maintain their impressive momentum.
Despite falling short at the Christie 7s last season where they finished fifth, they are back with renewed focus.
In Pool D, they will face Mwamba RFC, Nondescripts and recently promoted KU Blak Blad, who rejoined Division One in this outing after winning Division Two in Nakuru.
