- Victor Mola received three honors at the concluded Prinsloo 7s in Nakuru over the weekend.
- He was named the Most Valuable Player in the cup final against KCB, where he scored two tries.
- He also emerged as the tournament’s top try-scorer and highest points scorer.
Strathmore Leos speedster Victor Mola believes that unity within the squad was the driving forces behind their defense of the 2025 Prinsloo 7s title, marking their first title in the second outing of the SportPesa National Sevens Circuit 2025.
Crowned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the final, Mola shone with a brace of tries, steering Leos to a dominant 26-7 victory over KCB in the championship clash staged at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
In addition to his MVP accolade, the former Kisumu RFC standout was also named the tournament’s top try-scorer and highest points contributor after registering eight tries and amassing 40 points overall.
His outstanding performance earned him a cash prize of KSh 10,000, courtesy of the Tujiamini initiative by leading gaming giant SportPesa.
Speaking to the SportPesa Blog after the match, the 21-year-old expressed gratitude, attributing the success to the collective efforts of his teammates and their shared sense of purpose.
I feel amazing, but all this I owe to the whole team. The training has been good, we have worked as a unit and we have delivered,” he stated.
“No underdogs in sevens, only effort pays”
Having helped his side retain the Prinsloo title after their initial triumph in the 2024 edition, Mola emphasized that in the sevens format, there are no clear underdogs or favorites, only the outcome of effort and discipline.
The finals have been good, but one thing I know about rugby tournaments is that there are no underdogs or favorites. Effort is what pays off and today it went our way,” he added.
Earlier in the 2025 series, Leos finished runners-up in the Driftwood 7s in Mombasa after falling to KCB.
However, they avenged that defeat in Nakuru, showing resilience and growth.

Mola reflects on injury setbacks, aims to continue working on himself
Mola, who had previously suffered injuries to both ankles, described the rehabilitation process as mentally and physically taxing.
He made his return during the Kenya Cup season when Strathmore faced off against South Coast Pirates.
Injuries are setbacks, and they have troubled me a lot. During that period, I had a strong urge to do something, but it really held me back,” he shared.
Having debuted for Kenya Morans in 2024 ahead of the Rugby Africa 7s in Mauritius, Mola remains focused on self-improvement.

Whether donning the Shujaa or Morans jersey again, he vows to stay prepared.
I want to continue working, and whichever call-up comes my way will come. But at the moment, I just want to keep working hard and sharpening my skills. Let me focus on that first,” he concluded.
Victor Mola becomes the second player to sweep all the accolades, following KCB speedster Floyd Wabwire, who also secured all the honors in the first leg of the circuit the Driftwood 7s.
