KCB RFC winger Floyd Wabwire is determined to sustain his blistering form in the 2025 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit after an unforgettable showing at the Driftwood 7s in Mombasa where he clinched three individual honors.
Wabwire was the undisputed star of the opening leg, earning the Most Valuable Player award during the two-day tournament held at Mombasa Sports Club from July 26 to Sunday 27.
The former Daystar Falcons sensation also emerged as the top try scorer, crossing the whitewash eight times, which earned him an additional title as the top points scorer with 40 points.
His performancee propelled Dennis Mwanja’s squad to defy expectations, reclaiming the Driftwood title they last won in 2019 and avenging their 2024 defeat to Kenya Harlequins.
Floyd Wabwire on the thrilling final win
Wabwire, who crossed the line in the nail-biting final where KCB edged Strathmore Leos 15-14, expressed elation after the triumph.
“I feel good. It is a milestone for KCB. We have stayed for a while without winning the Driftwood 7s, and personally, I challenged myself and have been rewarded,” he told the SportPesa Blog post-match.
Looking ahead, Wabwire emphasized that the team had set ambitious goals for the season and sees the Driftwood triumph as just the beginning.
We, as a team, had set our goals coming into the new season and coming into Driftwood. So this is just a step out of the now remaining five outings.
The confidence was key. We did not undermine any opponent. We took each game as a final. They were tough matches, but we managed to get the wins,” he noted.

Wabwire reflects on the Kabras semifinal battle as he aim for circuit dominance
Reflecting on the intense semi-final clash against Kabras Sugar, where he bagged a brace of tries, Wabwire praised the team’s composure under pressure.
“The semifinal against Kabras had high intensity from the kickoff. The only thing we did is that we were composed, and we knew the weaknesses of the opponent and how to take the chances.”

Wabwire is now setting his sights on maintaining elite performance throughout the series not just personally, but as a collective unit.
I have set many goals in this year’s circuit, and one is that standards have to be there at the top. Everyone at KCB has their own goals that each one wants to achieve so that we can stand out and set an example for the rest.”
Next up for KCB is the second leg of the circuit, the Prinsloo 7s, scheduled for August 2–3 at Nakuru Athletic Club.
