Now, after those huge achievements, her focus shifts to the 3000m world record of 8:06.11 that was set in 1993 by retired Chinese runner Junxia Wang.
According to the Silesia Diamond League communications director, Marek Plawgo, Kipyegon has what it takes to break Wang’s world record.
“With this much success on her CV, breaking barriers remains the final goal of an athlete. I believe Faith is exactly at that stage now.
She is capable of more and she knows more, e.g. about Ingebrigtsen improving the 3000 meters world record in our stadium last year.
On the men’s side, just as on the women’s now, the record looked unbreakable. But nothing is forever. It looks like Faith is dreaming of proving it true,” he was quoted by the meeting’s website.
