One of the world’s most popular mobile games, PUBG MOBILE, has deepened its engagement with African players by launching dedicated local servers and unveiling new culturally inspired in-game content. The expansion branded “For Africa, By Africa “marks a milestone in the game’s commitment to the continent’s growing gaming community.

The upgrade includes the introduction of servers in Nigeria and South Africa, aimed at reducing latency and improving gameplay for millions of users. This makes PUBG MOBILE one of the first global gaming platforms to invest in African server infrastructure.

“We understand that stable, smooth gameplay is critical for competitive players,” said Brian Gu, Head of PUBG MOBILE Africa. “To meet the needs of our diverse African community, we’ve also introduced a Server Node Selection feature allowing players to choose whether to compete within Africa or globally, all with a single tap.”

African Culture Takes the Spotlight

As part of the cultural integration, players can now access a Maasai-inspired outfit, designed to reflect the bold colors and traditions of one of Africa’s most recognizable communities.

Additionally, the game features the “Afro Frenzy” emote, based on the viral Mapangale dance that gained traction across TikTok and other platforms. Later this year, PUBG MOBILE will also roll out a digital version of Mancala, the traditional African board game known for its strategic gameplay and widespread cultural significance.

“These features go beyond aesthetics. They represent our respect for African culture and the creativity of our player base,” said Gu.

Tournaments and Giveaways Across the Continent

In a move to strengthen its regional community, PUBG MOBILE is hosting several events throughout the season.
