McDonald Mariga

Former Harambee Stars midfielder McDonald Mariga and the current captain Michael Olunga are the only other two Kenyans that have featured in Spain’s top flight league in the past.

McDonald Mariga

Mariga, the current Football Kenya Federation (FKF) vice president, had stints with Real Sociedad.

He was loaned to Real Sociedad by Inter Milan in the 2011/2012 season where he went on to make more than 10 appearances.

Michael Olunga

Olunga, who recently secured a move to Qatar based club Al Arabi SC, has previously played for La Liga club Girona.

Michael Olunga

Girona landed his services in 2017 after his parent club Guizhou Zhicheng agreed to loan him to them.

At Girona, Olunga scored several goals including an historic hat-trick against Las Palmas.

Kenyan fans will be praying and hoping that once signed by Celta Vigo, Kibet will flourish in La Liga and help Harambee Stars in the 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
