- The decisive return leg will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at SportPesa Arena in Murang’a, where Posta Rangers will have home advantage.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced the schedule for the crucial two-legged promotion/relegation playoff between Posta Rangers and Naivas FC, as the two clubs battle for a spot in the 2025/26 top-tier league.
The first leg is slated for Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Machakos Stadium, with Naivas FC playing hosts.
The decisive return leg will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at SportPesa Arena in Murang’a, where Posta Rangers will enjoy home advantage.
Both matches are scheduled to kick off at 3:00 PM.
Posta Rangers ended their season in disappointing way, managing only a 1-1 draw against Bandari FC on Sunday, June 22.
They finished 16th in the FKF Premier League standings with 35 points, narrowly escaping automatic relegation. Now, they must fight to preserve their top-flight status.
For head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo, this playoff represents a final opportunity to rescue a campaign that has been anything but smooth.
Despite flashes of promise, Rangers’ inconsistency proved costly, and they secured the playoff spot by edging FC Talanta on goal difference alone.
Their experience in the Premier League will be critical as they aim to navigate these two pressure-filled encounters.
This is not unfamiliar territory for Posta Rangers as they were in a similar situation during the 2018/19 season, managing to survive.
Meanwhile, Naivas FC also returns to familiar ground. Just last season, in 2023/24, they came agonizingly close to promotion but were narrowly denied by Sofapaka, who retained their Premier League status.
Armed with more experience and renewed determination, Naivas are hoping to finally break into the top flight.

They finished third in the National Super League with 62 points, narrowly missing out on automatic promotion. Now, they see this playoff as their long-awaited opportunity to make history.
How will the winner Posta Rangers vs Naivas FC be determined?
If the aggregate score is tied after the second leg, the team with more away goals will advance.
Should both aggregate and away goals be equal, the match will go straight to a penalty shootout.
The winner will earn a spot in the 2025/26 FKF Premier League, joining newly promoted Nairobi United and APS Bomet.
