- Kenyan runner Benson Kipruto is the main attraction for the 2025 Bogota Half Marathon.

Experienced athlete Benson Kipruto is one of the biggest names from Kenya that have been confirmed for the 2025 Bogota Half Marathon.
Kipruto, who has a personal best of 1:00.06, is expected to use the Bogota Half Marathon to prepare for bigger events set to take place in the final quarter of the year.
In Bogota, Kipruto will face off with other East African runners including compatriot Philemon Kiplimo and Eritrea’s Samsom Amare.
Ghana’s William Amponsah, who won a rare silver medal for his country at the 2024 African Games, will also be in action.
On the other side, the organizers of the 2025 Bogota Half Marathon have also put together a very competitive field in the women’s category.
Some of the big names from Kenya that are set to feature in the event are the 2024 Napoli City Half Marathon champion Angela Tanui and the ever green Selah Busienei.
Tanui and Busienei head to Bogota with a half marathon lifetime best of 1:07.04 and season best of 1:09.58 in that order.
The two Kenyans will square it out for the title against the likes of Aynalem Desta (Ethiopia), Tsige Haileslase (Ethiopia) and Mary Granja (Ecuador). Tanzania’s Mao Ako, and Colombia’s Angie Orjuela will also be in the mix.
According to the organizers, more than 42,000 runners from different countries in the world are expected to compete in the 2025 Bogota Half Marathon.
Bogota Half Marathon, which boosts of a World Athletics elite label, is one of the biggest road runners in South America,
For Kipruto, the race will help him to gauge his level of preparedness ahead of high profile events such as the Berlin Marathon, Sydney Marathon, Chicago Marathon and New York Marathon as well as the World Athletics Championships.
Although it is not clear yet exactly which Abbott World Marathon Majors he will compete in or whether he will be part of Kenya’s marathon squad to the 2025 Tokyo Olympic Games, the Bogota Marathon will help Kipruto to make necessary improvements.
