The upcoming Stockholm Diamond League scheduled to go down on Sunday, June 15 is expected to stage one of the most exciting 800m races this season featuring the likes of Emmanuel Wanyonyi.
Some of the other biggest names in both the men’s and women’s categories including Djamel Sedjati and Mary Moraa are set to light up the meeting.
Wanyonyi will be aiming to return to winning ways at the Stockholm Diamond League.

Wanyonyi looking to bounce back in the 2025 Stockholm Diamond League
The Kenyan runner disappointed many of his fans at the recently held Rabat Diamond League where he finished third.
Wanyonyi clocked a slow time of 1:43.37 to finish behind fast-rising Tshepiso Masalela of Botswana and Great Britain’s Max Burgin. Maselala and Burgin clocked 1:42.70 and 1:43.34 respectively.
The Stockholm Diamond League will therefore offer Wanyonyi a good opportunity to shine and put his season back on track.

Wanyonyi to come up against a strong field
However, the 20-year-old will have to be at his best to overcome a star-studded field that the organizers of the event have assembled.
Some of these runners include Algeria’s Masalela, Bryce Hoppel (USA), Andreas Kramer (Sweden), Sedjati (Algeria) and Gabriel Tual (France).
Wanyonyi’s compatriot Wycliffe Kinyamal, who won a gold medal for Kenya in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, will also be in contention.
Besides looking for a win, Wanyonyi is also expected to try to improve his personal best of 1:41.11 which he set last year.
Moraa headlines the 800m women’s race for the 2025 Stockholm Diamond League
Similar to Wanyonyi, Moraa has also not had an excellent start to the 2025 athletics season.
Her recent performances at the Grand Slam Track series has left many people wondering if she has what it takes to defend her world title in Tokyo.
Therefore, a good show for Moraa in the Stockholm Diamond League will be paramount.
The 2024 Paris Olympic Games medalist will battle it out with the likes of Ethiopia’s Tsige Duguma and Addison Wiley from the United States.
A good show from Wanyonyi and Moraa in the Stockholm Diamond League will go a long way into building their confidence as they continue with their preparations for the 2025 World Athletics Championships.
