A hard-fought 1-0 victory was all Kabrass Queens needed to secure the Western Region Tujiamini sponsorship package courtesy of leading gaming firm SportPesa.
Played on Saturday morning at the Bungoma High School Grounds, a second-half header from Ivy Taka got the job done for the Peter Makuto-led charges who walked away with the 50,000-shilling sponsorship boon.
Speaking after the win, Makuto expressed his delight with the Tujiamini initiative and thanked SportPesa for offering their support at the grassroot level.
“The game was tough. They have always been our rivals, but we had a game plan that we knew how to execute. I feel very happy with the win because it was a knockout game and the girls managed to get the job done.
We have been playing the Regional League and we have qualified for the Division 1 that is about to start. This sponsorship will help us in preparations for that and will be a great deal.
I just want to thank the Tujiamini initiative by SportPesa because we assume that they just support teams in the top flight.
With this, it shows they also care for the grassroot teams where talents start. With this, these girls can come from down to the top and achieve their dreams,” he said.
In the men’s category, Upendo FC overcame five other teams to be crowned the overall winner.
The result saw them join the list of Tujiamini Cheza Dimba winners as they bagged a 3-year sponsorship worth Ksh. 250,000 annually plus a new set of home and away kits.
