Some of the best track and field athletes from different regions of the world including the peerless Beatrice Chebet will converge in Morocco for the 2025 Rabat Diamond League on Sunday, May 25.
Kenya is set to have a huge representation in the Rabat Diamond League with the likes of Chebet fighting for glory.
Besides Chebet, who has so far featured in one Diamond League this season, a couple of other big names including the African 100m record holder and one-time Olympic Games champion Ferdinand Omanyala will be in action in Rabat.

The fourth Diamond League of the season comes at a time where some of these athletes have had an opportunity to gauge their performances. For instance, Chebet and Omanyala have competed in a number of races since the beginning of the year.

The latter has so far featured in the Botswana Golden Grand Prix, Shanghai Diamond League and the Adidas Atlanta City Games while Chebet’s latest race was at the Xiamen Diamond League.
As expected, Chebet, who won two Olympic Games for Kenya in Paris, won the 5000m title in Xiamen with ease.

The 25-year-old relied on her brilliant kick to overcome a strong Ethiopian army that had big names such as Gudaf Tsegay.
She clocked a world lead time of 14:27.12 in her first competitive 5000m race of the season, an indication that she has had adequate preparation.

Chebet, who is one of the stars in the Kenyan athletics sector at the moment, will also come up against a huge list of Ethiopians in the 2025 Rabat Diamond League.
However, this time round Chebet is expected to face stiffer competition because she took part in the 3000m race – a discipline that she rarely runs.

Some of the heavyweights who are likely to give Chebet a run for her money in Rabat are the fast-rising Medina Eisa (Ethiopia), Shito Gumi (Ethiopia), Winnie Nanyondo (Uganda) and Janeth Chepngetich (Kenya).
Meanwhile, Omanyala, who occupies the last position in the 2025 Diamond League standings at the moment with seven points, will lock horns with familiar rivals including Akani Simbine (South Africa), Letsile Tebogo (Botswana) and Fred Kerley (USA).
The Nairobi based athlete will be hoping to bounce back from the poor performances he has registered in the Diamond League this season.
On the other hand, Wanyonyi will take part in his first Diamond League meeting of the season in Rabat.
The 20-year-old, who has been backed by many stakeholders to lower the current 800m world record of 1:40.91 that was set by his compatriot in the 2012 London Olympic Games, heads to Rabat with a lot of confidence after shining at the Kingston Grand Slam Track in April.
