- Gor Mahia FC were held to a 0-0 draw by Murang’a Seal in a clash that was staged at the SportPesa Arena on Sunday.
- The draw was a painful one for the Gor Mahia fraternity because it denied them a chance of closing the gap between themselves and league leaders Kenya Police FC.
- Gor Mahia currently sit third in the standings with 54 points, seven less than Kenya Police FC.

This is after being held to a barren draw in the tight game played at the SportPesa Arena in Murang’a County.
The match started at a fast pace with the hosts looking the more dangerous of the two sides.
Murang’a SEAL’s first opportunity of the game came in the fifth minute when Joseph Irungu fired a powerful shot which was dealt well with by the experienced Gor Mahia shot stopper Gad Mathews.

Gor Mahia denied breakthrough
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia came close to finding an early breakthrough only for Chris Ochieng to hit the post with a low drive that had beaten Wilson Mwangi in goal.
Minutes later, Samuel Kapen had a speculative effort but his effort never troubled the keeper.
In the final stages of the first half, Patrick Essombe could have given Gor the lead after wriggling his way past the opposing defenders, but once again Mwangi came up with a huge save to ensure the deadlock remained intact.
In the second half, K’Ogalo head coach Mihic Sinisa made a number of changes in a bid to change the score line.
However, Murang’a SEAL defenders remained rock solid and picked up a well-deserved point in the end.
More pain for Gor Mahia as Kenya Police stun FC Talanta
The result was more costly to Gor Mahia as it enabled league leaders Kenya Police FC to open a huge gap at the top of the standings.
Kenya Police FC, who edged past FC Talanta with a 1-0 win, increased their tally to 61 points with two matches remaining to the end of the season.
On the other hand, Gor Mahia, who have a game in hand, increased their tally to 54 points, which was enough to ensure they maintain their third position in the log.
In other matches played on Sunday, Mara Sugar secured a slim 1-0 victory over Shabana FC, Kakamega Homeboyz hammered Kariobangi Sharks 2-0 while Nairobi City Stars drew 1-1 with Posta Rangers.
