- Gor Mahia will host Nairobi City Stars in an FKFPL midweek clash on Thursday, May 15 at Dandora Stadium, kicking off at 4:00 PM.
- A win for Gor would see them leapfrog Tusker into second place on the log and cut the points deficit with Kenya Police to just two, with a game in hand.
- Earlier at the same venue (1:00 PM), Kariobangi Sharks will take on a struggling KCB side.
Record Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia will look to capitalize on Kenya Police and Tusker’s recent slip-ups in a bid to close the gap at the top of the standings when they host relegation-threatened Nairobi City Stars at the Dandora Stadium on Thursday, May 15 (4:00 PM).
Tusker, who currently sit on 55 points, suffered a 0-2 midweek defeat to FC Talanta, presenting Gor with a golden opportunity with a win elevating them to second with 56 points.
Moreover, victory would edge them closer to the summit, taking advantage of Kenya Police’s 2-1 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz.
With three vital points, Gor would trim the deficit to just two points with a game in hand.
Adding to their momentum, Sinisa Mihic’s men enter the clash against CIty Stars refreshed, having missed their weekend fixture, the second leg of the Mashemeji Derby against AFC Leopards, which was postponed due to venue constraints.
Having edged out Shabana 0-1 two weeks ago at Gusii Stadium, K’Ogalo will be eager to sustain their fine form as they chase a third consecutive top-flight title and their record 22nd crown.
However, City Stars are not to be underestimated.
Despite languishing at the bottom of the table, their fight for survival is still alive. With relegation looming, the Salim Babu-led side are battling tooth and nail to avoid the drop.
Currently placed in last position with 27 points, City Stars need a dramatic turnaround in their remaining four matches.
A victory over Gor would lift them one spot above Bidco United, who recently fell 2-1 to Shabana.
With only three points separating them from 13th-placed Kariobangi Sharks, Thursday’s fixture is nothing short of crucial.
City Stars come into this clash buoyed by a 3-2 weekend win over Mara Sugar, a result that injects confidence as they prepare to face a formidable Gor side.

Gor Mahia head coach makes statement
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Gor Mahia head coach Sinisa Mihic expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness and determination:
We’ll be ready for that game for sure (against Nairobi City Stars), and we expect to win this and all the other games. We want to win a double – the league and the cup.
Everything is going well at a pretty high level because of the energy of the players. They are not tired, which is very important in May,” he told the club’s media.
I also see some players who weren’t used much in previous matches, they are really stepping up. So I think we’ll have the best month, and these five games will showcase our best performances. For sure, we will show our resilience, win the title, and reach the cup final,” he added.
In the first leg of this fixture, City Stars edged Gor Mahia 2-1, with goals from Dennis Oalo and Robson Asenwa, while Levin Odhiambo netted for Gor.
