Sharrif Musa delivered a stellar performance netting once and providing two assists, as he inspired Gor Mahia to a dominant 4-0 victory over Mara Sugar on Sunday evening at the Dandora Stadium

Musa opened the scoring in the 10th minute, and Enock Morisson swiftly doubled the lead.

A brilliant finish from Gedeon Bendeka in the second half ensured Gor Mahia erased the memory of their recent setbacks, before super sub Alpha Onyango sealed the win with a fourth goal.

This victory closed the gap with league leaders Kenya Police, who now have 52 points, and Tusker, who have 51.

Following a midweek setback – a 1-0 defeat to FC Talanta Gor Mahia’s head coach, Sinisa Mihic, reshuffled his lineup, making six changes.

Sylvester Owino, Samuel Onyango, Lawrence Juma, Austin Odhiambo, Bryson Wangai, and Benson Omala were dropped to the bench, making way for Philemon Otieno, Alphonce Omija, Ernest Wendo, Ben Stanley, Levin Odhiambo, and Bendeka.

Gor Mahia maintain a cleansheet with a four goal thriller

In Dandora, Mara Sugar had two opportunities to take the lead, but their shots were denied by goalkeeper Gad Mathews.

Just nine minutes into the match, Gor broke the deadlock when Sharrif Musa scored a brilliant goal.

Enock Morisson delivered an exquisite pass from the right wing, allowing Musa to fire a powerful shot past Evans Omondi, who was unable to prevent the goal.

Before the half-hour mark, Morisson added his name to the score sheet, doubling Gor’s lead with a precise strike into the left corner, following a well-timed assist from Musa.

Musa nearly turned provider again with a pinpoint cross to Bendeka, whose header rattled the woodwork, sparing Mara Sugar further misery before halftime.

Mara Sugar struggled to find their rhythm in the first half, heading into the break trailing by two goals.

The early minutes of the second half were uneventful, with Gor Mahia maintaining control of the game while Mara Sugar searched for a way to break down their opponents’ defense.

Gor Mahia’s third goal came in the 55th minute, when Gedeon Bendeka finished off a wonderful assist from Sharrif Musa, who had made a penetrating run down the right wing.

Mara Sugar’s coach, Benedict Wanjala, made two substitutions, bringing on Ruben Okoth for Vincent Mulama and Dennis Cheruiyot for Christopher Raila, hoping to inject fresh energy into his team.

Mihic responded with two changes of his own, substituting Benson Omalla for Bendeka and Bryson Wangai for Ernest Wendo.

Omalla came close to adding a fourth for Gor Mahia, but his shot narrowly missed the target.

Austin Odhiambo also threatened, forcing Omondi to punch the ball out for a corner, preventing Gor from extending their lead further.

In the final minute of regular time, Alpha Onyango completed the scoring, netting a fourth goal for Gor Mahia after a well-placed pass from Austin Odhiambo.

With Mara Sugar struggling defensively, Gor Mahia took full advantage, securing the three points that propelled them back into the title race.
