AFC Leopards’ title chase suffers blow after Mathare United defeat
  • AFC Leopards vs Bidco United will be played on Saturday, April 26 at Dandora Stadium, Nairobi, with kick-off at 4:00 PM.
  • Ingwe are winless in their last seven consecutive matches and have gone eight home games without a victory.
  • Bidco come into this match riding high after a 2-0 win over Mathare United last weekend.

AFC Leopards will be aiming to break their seven-match winless streak in the FKF Premier League and an eight-game home drought when they host Bidco United on Saturday, April 26th, at the Dandora Stadium (4:00 PM).

The Leopards’ recent form has been underwhelming, severely denting their aspirations of clinching a 13th top-flight title.

They currently sit seventh on the league table with 38 points, trailing leaders Tusker FC by 13 points.

Ingwe come into the fixture on the back of a disheartening goalless draw against Ulinzi Stars on Wednesday in a rescheduled match a game where they squandered several clear-cut opportunities to claim all three points.

Adding to their woes, Leopards’ home form has been particularly concerning.

They have failed to register a single win in their last eight home fixtures.

Their most recent victory at home dates back to December 22, 2024, when they defeated Bandari FC 2-0 in the first leg.

Since then, they have drawn six times and suffered two losses. Overall, they have managed just four home wins this season, alongside seven draws and three defeats—earning 19 points at their home ground.

Head coach Fred Ambani, who has been grappling with a squad ravaged by injuries, will be eager to spark a turnaround both in their home performances and league standing.

On the other side, Antony Akhulia’s Bidco United have also endured a turbulent campaign, currently positioned just two spots above the relegation zone with 27 points in the 18-team Premier League.

However, the Oilers will arrive with renewed confidence after an impressive 2-0 triumph over Mathare United last weekend a morale-boosting result that could fuel their momentum going into this encounter.

Notably, Bidco are unbeaten in their last three away fixtures (two draws, one win) and will be aiming to extend that streak to four games.

A win this weekend could potentially lift them further away from relegation danger, with seven matches remaining in the season.

As for Bidco, no player absences have been officially confirmed, but head coach Akhulia will miss the fixture as he is in Egypt serving as assistant coach to Salim Babu for the Kenya U20 team.

AFC Leopards claimed a narrow 1-0 victory in the first leg of this tie, with Lokale netting the winning goal.

However, in the last nine meetings between the two sides since 2020, Bidco have had the upper hand—winning five matches, losing two, and drawing twice.
